What might the future mean for Skype? Changes happening already it would seem:

I don't see why you would be; this forum is practically dead.

The changes i'd like to see Skype implement are unlikely to come about, namely:

1 - SIP integration. Allow Skype users to add username@example.org as a contact and have it correctly routed to that SIP URI. Conversely, all Skype users get SIP URIs in the form of username@skype.com that are accessible from SIP endpoints.

2 - Free calls to iNum numbers. Still not sure why Skype charge for calls to these numbers when they're routed over the 'net and don't actually cost Skype anything. Especially when calls to +99 numbers are free to Skype users.

3 - Allow direct SIP login for people who use proper SIP hardware (and without the exorbitant cost of the "Skype Connect" program).

4 - Switch to the Opus Codec for voice as soon as it's standardised by the IETF (this one is actually likely since Skype have helped develop it).

It probably means Google will expand its Talk service now.

Yep, its a dead forum.

Its would make a bit more sense to have with Mobiles and thus have 'Mobile phones and VOIP'
Three mobile always came with free Skype so there is already a close connection.

That might be a good idea. More might post in it then. They did that in the Home Entertainment Technology section as the HDTV Displays and Technologies section was dead so I think the two are merged.
