I remeber Austin saying more or less the thing when he was sent home.

When their on the show it's their entire world and they think it's the only chance they will ever have, which is probably true for some more than others.

After leaving then some of them will realise thy while the show offered a great opportunity the X-Factor route to music fame just wasn't for them.

By saving face I clearly meant that by saying "I am better off without it" and pretending not to care, she would seem less upset and weak, even turn a negative into a positive. Going "Oh well thanks for throwing me under the bus" would have induced pity, not respect. Thanks for trying.

Which - along with the choice of Frankie to go through - goes to show it is nothing to do with talent just what drives the X Factor PR machine. But now they have had to leave to the public vote which means that anything could happen ...
