I think they think he is "marketable" regardless of singing ability and are trying to at least get him far enough to sign him to Syco, like Cher Lloyd.

Everything else may be fixed about this show but one thing they cannot fix is the public vote. The people get their champion in the end - even though 10 months later they get beaten by Steps in the album charts and their second single only makes no 6. Why do we all get so hysterical about this.
Frankie can only survive so long. To get bottom 2 in week 1 of the public vote you probably only got around 2% of the total vote - eventually he will come up against a better act!

Hello! haha the whole things a fix. marketable him hahaha
It doesn't make any logical sense that its fixed. Why would they put Frankie in the bottom 2 if they are staging it for him to get through to the finals?
All its doing is putting more pressure on him and making the public think hes one of the weaker contestants in the competition.
Probably writing his script at the moment and adding some chirpy banter to the autocue for him to read out. From next week onwards we will have cheeky chappy Frankie shoved in our faces, millions of VTs, audience members paid to scream, performances drowned out by flashing pyrotechnics and scantily clad dancing ladies.
I don't get why you're comparing him to Cher Lloyd because she's much better, but anyway I don't think he's gonna make the finals, I think he'll last another 4 weeks or something but not many more, and if he kept on being in the bottom two I really doubt they would save him every single week tbh.

Brace yourselves
He's likely to get his bum out again ”
It's like I said in another thread - from next week, the minimalist pretentions will be scrapped in favour of dancers, flashing lights, pop songs and BIG production values, all designed to distract gullible viewers from Frankie's distinct lack of vocal talent. It worked for Jedward, and the producers probably think it will work for Frankie too.
The only difference being that Jedward knew they were a joke act from the start, as did the producers.

yes, but steve was never in the bottom two. in fact, no x factor winner has ever been in the bottom two. i cant see frankie being in the final at this stage and it is impossible to imagine him winning!

And Steve Brookstein, personality issues aside, could actually sing.
I think he will be kept on at least long enough to get on the tour - Gary can get him that even if he's bottom two every time. Then he can assure Jason Orange and Frankies Dad that he got him paid work.

What stops him being a joke act? I though the point of joke acts was that they didn't deserve to be there and couldn't sing. Frankie is the ultimate. I'm really surprised at his inclusion - such a blatant example of nepotism.
Gary will drop Frankie like a hot potato now and give Craig and Marcus a lot more time, he can't afford for one of them to go into the bottom 2 any time soon. Coming bottom in the first show means Frankie has zip chance of getting anywhere, he won't be on the tour, they need popular acts on the tour that the public will pay to see.

As much as I disliked Cher's attitude ... the girl could sing - it was her trump card. Frankie has no trump card. Unless you count his haircut.
But you may be right about image. I mean - if they can get him through to the final stages - they can always get a good session singer in and package it as 'all Frankie'. It has been done before - or so I'm led to believe!

that is the issue to be honest. they are actually trying to brand him as a serious singer. they should have just stuck to the original script of him having a certain appeal.
