I love to watch him dance, I just don't think his personality necessarily comes across very well in the interviews. But I certainly don't get any feeling of smugness about him.

Jason probably wont win even though he is giving by far the best performances , thats just the way scd goes. i am glad we are having the chance to see Kristinas fab choreography . The show would be dull without them both , hes working his butt off too. scd needs variation of personalities , haters get a grip At first i too found him intense but i think this week he seemed much less serious and was starting to enjoy the whole experience , he was far from smug .

I agree,

I would now put money on the fact he will not win.

Once the backlash starts. He does not stand a chance. He is basically playing for 3rd / 2nd place now IMO.

Come now, he is still doing very good in the polls.

Besides, mark I DID win a few years ago

Something tells me there is more to come from Jason , not just dance wise

Thanks Sherlock!!

I will remain optimistic.

Lets be honest here. If Jason is top of the leader board each week and still does not win the show loses credibility and it would be a travesty.

If he provides the performaces like the last three and improves weekly remaining top it would be a travesty if he didnt win .
Kristina will be under a lot of pressure to provide magic choreography each week that can continue to thrill .

No it wouldn't, all it would show is that, for once, the viewing public agrees with the judges.

Well Thats what I view the show as.

A dancing competition and If he is the better dancer IMO he should win.

I know it's late but I'm confused.

If the judges put Jason top of the leaderboard but he doesn't actually win, by what stretch of the imagination is it possible to conclude that the public agree with the judges.

But it's often very subjective as to who the best dancer is, particularly when there are two or three (or even more) good performers at the top. And others prefer to vote for someone who has shown improvement rather than someone who has always been excellent.

At present Jason is, on ability, some distance better than the rest and despite my personal view of him, should probably win if this continues. I thought the same of Ricky Whittle in series 7 even though he didn't exactly wow me. Was more entertained by Chris Hollins but if truth be told he was a bit cr@p and Ricky was damned good (if over-serious). However, the series is young yet and someone else may come to the fore (Chelsee or Harry look the most likely.)

You can view it as a dancing competition but the show's producers have always made it clear it's an entertainment programme "with" dancing. Most times the winner is someone who can dance but they're not always the best dancer.

However, I had misread your original post where you said it would be a travesty if he didn't win.

No Ignazio you're quite correct, I misread the original person's post as them saying if Jason stayed top of the leader board all season it would be a travesty, I missed the bit about "and didn't win".

I LOVED his interpretation of a Tango. He took it to a new level that Strictly has been crying out for.
Jason and Kristina's dance has turned into a weekly event.
It's the dance I look forward to the most.
I would be bummed if he didn't make it all the way because people don't get him.
Jason seems to compartmentalise himself, he behaves differently depending on who he's with and what he's doing.
There are so many sides to him. He fascinates me.

I must say that Strictly is back on form this year.
Now that Curry and Lobster have gone, all that remains is to flush Lulu and then I can say that I like everyone.

He's just streets ahead of the rest. And why would he not be with his stage experience?

He's essentially the finished product. Not on the same page as the others. Not even the same book!

I couldn't vote for him though because he's (yep, the usual story) just TOO darned good.

I still can't bear his dance face but I've warmed to him. I think the fact that he has a great relationship with Kristina helps.

His journey (ugh) is not just shorter than the others, it is going in reverse .eg Jill Halfpenny won Strictly and went on to star in a musical on the west end stage; Jason stars in musicals on the west end stage, and then comes on Strictly.

Granted he is not Danny Kaye , but still...

How can you condemn someone for being good.
He is putting in the effort and reaping the rewards - in my book that is fair enough.

I think it's possible that Jason's rather reserved and serious demeanour might see him suffer in a series that has more likeable and potentially excellent partnerships than any other I can remember.

Harry and Chelsee clearly have bags of class on the floor and certainly Harry has a strong voting base - I'd have thought Chelsee's would be less so but if she proves likeable too that shouldn't matter.

Holly is a notch behind Harry and Chelsee for my money, while Robbie is another notch lower - but both are very watchable and could definitely go on a J to make the final.

Then you've got the 'likeables with no exceptional dance talent' - Russell being the main case in point. Rory would also come under this heading for me and so would Anita, though they're both trying incredibly hard.

So who does that leave that I think is untalented and not likeable? Hmm...Audley (sorry, enough flatfooting round my screen), Nancy (who I'm now sure is just not trying hard enough), Alex (dull dull dull dull DULL) and Lulu (like a beanie baby with acting talent). And I really had to think there to remember Alex and Lulu

The bottom line is that this could be a very interesting melting pot with the combo of judges' scoring and voting proving more crucial than it's ever been. Jason might need to loosen up if he's to grab the glitterball...

Love Jason.
Love his dancing and performances.
He is a little bit serious but that is actually quite refreshing when compared with so much superficialness (is that a proper word ) these days.

I haven't bashed him at all in this thread, if anything I've bashed myself! I haven't been personal, I haven't been rude, I haven't made snide comments, in fact I was as nice as I'm ever going to be about him.

I think he is great and him being with Kristina is a dream......he is a bit serious and a bit on the dull side on ITT but you are what you are and I think he is a very decent guy.

Some of you have raised Ricky Whittle as a comparison of someone who was a great dancer who lost out to a couple with limited dancing ability but bags of personality.....whilst I agree that the same scenario could well happen again (Russell and Flavia) there is a big difference here in that Ricky was with Natalie who was a new pro that some people didnt take to...Jason is with Kristina who has slowly but surely worked her way into the hearts of quite a number of strictly fans and who are delighted to see her doing so well and wont want to burst her bubble.

Add to this that a significant number of viewers never watch ITT at all and will remember Jason with affection from his past sucessess (Ricky didnt have this advantage) then I think his fan base will be substantial myself. I dont know if he will win, a lot of that will depend on just how good Harry and Chelsee get I think and if the Russell charm school wears off, but I think he will (and deserves to) get to the final.

No matter what route is taken to get to the final, winners have always appeared to have FUN. This is what the voters respond to most.
Anyone who treats the whole thing too seriously is heading for a fall.

Jason and Christina are my faves. I love how relieved and grateful Christina seems every week that she's finally in with a shot after being saddled with crap year after year!
