I love Jason, he is a really lovely guy but has always been serious, thats his nature though, he takes everything he does professionally as if its the most important thing.
He works incredibly hard at all he does and will put in the hours, as for his dance face.............it just makes me laugh, why does it upset people? am at a bit of a loss on that one.

I am thrilled for Kristina, she finally gets to show us her talents and what a partner, would be a shame to punish her because people think he is serious, or pulls funny faces.

I LOVE Jason and his Broadway dance was just superb! He is a true professional and is working really hard as far as I can see. I can't understand why some people are so anti him.

I feel the same about him! I hope he goes soon, I just can't stand the sight of that man

I think the problem is that he's a natural performer and he doesn't know quite which role to play when he's not on stage and just talking naturally to the cameras. It must be tough for the obvious favourite/front-runner to know how to pitch themselves, you know? Being too humble just seems false.

But when questions like 'are you going to top the leaderboard again?' are lobbed at him, what's he supposed to say, really? He seems to just panic a bit and lapses back into gobbledygook twaddle and platitudes, which just sound rehearsed and the elongated ozzie vowels don't help with the overall windbag impression.

I think he's amazingly talented, a quality performer, and probably a very nice guy, too. He's a perfectionist, though, and I don't know if he's super competitive or not - I don't think he's hellbent on winning, he's just hellbent on doing things really, really well. People can react badly to that because, hey, they prefer a bit of an underdog with a story and character arc and progression and all that. They may feel he's trying too hard or he's teacher's pet or he has an unfair advantage with all the performing he's done.

Personally I hope he can just learn to be more relaxed and more himself in front of the cameras. It's strange, but I feel like you see more of the real, fun him when he's actually on that floor performing! I really enjoy watching him with Kristina, so I hope people don't penalise him for being just too damn good.

Hello all, relatively new poster on these boards so please be gentle with me

Aww, poor Jason. It makes me a bit sad to see people being so negative about him when he is clearly trying his hardest and getting good results out of it. I wonder if he wasn't at the top of the leaderboard would people be so critical of his efforts.

With regards to the way he presents himself, someone made a good point on the Dan Lobb thread. They said that it must be difficult for someone in his position as no matter what they say or do they're going to be in for some criticism. If he was self-deprecating some would say it was fake, if he appeared to be delighted to be doing so well some would say he was smug and if he just concentrated on his training some would say he needs to lighten up and not take it so seriously. Talk about a no-win situation!

I have a big of a soft spot for him so I'm pleased he's as good as he is. He could definitely do with employing a new hair stylist though - preferably one who would tell him he would look better with a number 1 all over!

I must be the only one who thought his Tango was overrated! I cannot see how it merited 4 9s at this stage of the competition! He was already a bit pompous and full of himself - what will he be like now

Poor Kristina - the first time she has gotten a good partner, and hes a prat!! I do like seeing how good SHE is, though, its the first chance shes had to shine and I'm happy for her from that point of view but shes seems scared to death to show any affection towards Jason - his missus must have warned him not to be flirty with her and hes taking it deadly seriously

There is something about Jason that grates me too, I was really excited when I heard he was going to be on the show, so happy he was paired with Kristina but there's something I really dislike about him. In training he seems like a hyperactive child, I usually am all for the better dancers and there's no doubting he is one of them if not the best but I can't take to him! Titally agree he has been overmarked, maybe he should be top of the leaderboard by 9's?!?!

Can't see him winning though but will be carried to the finals by the judges scores.

And you're just as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine hun!

You aren't the only one, no. I agree with you. I admire Jason's work ethic and commitment, and as a 'performance' the dance was great but I simply don't think there was enough Tango in it, and what there was was, in my opinion, deserving of 8s not 9s.

I think many couples were over-marked this week.

The judges will have no where to go with the marks soon, and to give 10s in week 4 would be ridiculous. But that looks like the way it's heading this year.

I'm so glad its not just me. I also think its unfair that he's been in so many musical theatre productions over the years which must be a huge benefit over the others.

Alli-F and Collins 1965, I completely agree with you.

It's just like Donny Osmond on DWTS all over again!

Not really, all it does is mean he's capable of following choreography, doesn't mean he's suddenly going to be able to dance ballroom or latin.
There weren't any tangos, jives or cha cha cha's in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat the last time I saw it.

I think Kristina's having the time of her life. She's had a few duffers and really worked hard with them but now she's got someone who can really dance she's so enjoying herself. I think her choreography is brilliant and hope she goes far. I also like Jason. I like them all (except Nancy who really is a pratt) in varying degrees but especially Jason, Chelsee, Anita and Russell.

No one seems to be whinging on about Holly doing dance , music videos etc before . Most actors have had some previous dance training , stage school and all that .

Yes every year its the same, usually an excuse to have a go at someone they've decided to dislike. This year its Jason. Anyone who either went to stage school or is used to performing has a slight advantage. Its really sportsmen or presenters such as Dan or Alex who lack performance skills who are at a disadvantage but they know the score when they agree to do the show.

It may be a shame, but it would hardly be unexpected. It's kind of Ricky Whittle all over again.... Easily the best technical contestant there, but very little charisma otherwise.

Yes, he works incredibly hard and he takes it very seriously but, again, that's never been hugely popular with the public. They generally tend to get behind the ones that just go with the flow.... The ones that just go in, do what they have to do, and leave, with a bit of warm, lovable, fun in between.

I understand that people think it would be a shame for Kristina, but she wouldn't be the first pro to suffer that fate. Natalie had it with both Ricky and Scott (Who, at his best, was FABULOUS), Vincent had it with Rachel.

Whilst Jason may be peaking right now, there's no garauntees that standard will remain throughout the series. He could end up being enother Matt Baker.... consistant at worse, fabulous at best, or he could end up another Scott, Fabulous at best and rather rough at worse.

I hate to use the word, and I know it's not a favourite for many people at all, but at this rate, Jason wont have any sort of "journey"..... he'll just be the one that's top of the class every week. Yeh, it's always great to see a contestant that is great and consistant with it, but it's also sometimes nice to see frontrunners take a backseat once or twice and let somebody else shine. Jason can't help the fact he may be a better dancer than the others (that's down to personal opinion), but I can understand why there are some people that long to see somebody else shine.

We've seen it every year since the show started.... I doubt it will change now.

I think Jason and Kristina are a fab combination, and boy does she deserve a break.
It is unfortunate for them that they are my favourite, because my favourite rarely wins in the end.
He's having a great time and obviously putting a great deal of effort into training. Good luck to them both.....

Don't mind me, I'm still bitter about Austin!

I don't mind Jason, met him when he was in neighbours and started his singing career. He came to my local club, and sang to us
I wasn't interested in the singing too much, but always been a fan since. So many years ago

In some ways he can become another ricky Whittle(though I think Ricky was even more likeable than Jason) but he might still win(even I want someone else to win the show).
The reason why he might win even if he takes himself too seriously/pull funny faces is because of Kristina.
People will think that because she is a fantastic choreographer and dancer she finally deserves it.Of course things can always change.
