Petition - ITV: Bring CS and E'Dale back to FOUR nights!
Ridget
22-09-2004
Soaps are still high quality but most can't stick with a soap with huge amounts of episodes! With less episodes new viewers won't be so scared to start and it will be easier to watch every episode all week!

Please sign if you agree that:

ITV Should AXE:
CS: Monday 8.30
E'Dale: Sunday and Friday

No. A totally fine schedule is this:

E'Dale: Monday-Thursday 7PM.
Corrie: Sun Mon Wed Fri 7:30PM.

In dramatic circumstances E'Dale can add another episode to Friday and Corrie can have an hour long episode on Wednesday. But again, these should be used sparingly and only used in importance IE Jack and Diane's wedding. But it shouldn't have clashed with EE.

Well I don't like soaps being on at weekends, it just seems wrong, so I'd be happy to see Emmerdale and Corrie's Sunday episodes got rid of.
Other than that, I really don't mind, so long as it's kept to 5 episodes a week MAX.

You say you keep missing it yet you also say its on too much?? If its on so much then surely you wouldn't keep missing it!

Anyway, in my view, Corrie should go back to 4, axing the second Monday installment, and Emmerdale to 5, Monday - Friday, all 30minute episodes. If something big happens then an hour of Emmerdale on Tues/Thurs, and if something big happens in Corrie, then add the 8:30pm ep on Monday, but they shouldn't have it regularly.
EE should go back to 3.

Yeah well maybe you can cope with 5 episodes a week of two soaps but if you ask me cutting both to 4 will allow viewers who, lets say, have less time on their hands, to watch them.

Figures would rise. If you notice, most people watch E'Dale on a special event and most watch Corrie on Monday. The rest of the week is neglected because viewers thing 'Its on too much I can't keep up.'

Sorry Saf I disagree.

Firstly Loopy was referring to the fact that because its on too much she regularly misses episodes.

Corrie should go to 4. Agreed. Emmerdale should also be at 4. More people would start watching it regularly as 4 episodes is managable in a week.

You say hour long eps on Tue/Thur - that would mean more sneaky clashes with EE. No. A special episode on Friday where E'Dale wouldn't normally be on would be suffice.

I agree with Corrie. Either a special 8.30 ep or an hour-long special on Wed. Doesn't matter either way for Corrie as long as its used sparingly.

I'll sign...........But i think it will be better if you designed a proper internet petition like the ones they did for asking for the sacking of EE executive Producer Louise Berridge...........and look that worked-ish !

Nope. It's fine as it is. Unlike Eastenders the quality hasnt dropped with the extra episodes.

I have to say I'm in agreement, especially Mondays, after work you come home, by the time Edale, Corrie and EastEnders are done, your evening is gone nearly. I do think they need to scale them back and only add extra epis in dramatic storylines.

ITV should do sitcoms again at primetime instead of overloading Emmerdale & Corrie.

Plus I don't like these sneaky little clashes Emmerdale are doing with EastEnders. They wouldnt' have had the guts to do that two years ago, its a bit sly putting it up against it when the soap is clearly not doing well this year. Next year EE will hopefully be back and we'll see how many Edale and EE clashes there are then.

That is why I hate ITV willhung I'm going to start a huge backlash for that channel over the next few months.

Signed! The Corrie 2 hander on Monday nights should only be used for special storylines.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy Corrie, more so than Emmerdale, can take it or leave it really. But I also enjoy EastEnders and I don't see where tv stations get off trying to force viewers who enjoy both to choose, or by trying to destroy another soap. Plus its like Emmerdale is on six nights a week, how much more do they want? They'll never be rid of EastEnders and next year Emmerdale will be right back to being Soap number 3!
