I've hardly used it since I signed up because there is so much rubbish and very little in the way of quality available to stream.

I signed up specifically for the online service because I can't be bothered with the hassle of posting BluRays, and DVDs. But the online library is just so bad.

I've phoned to quit, twice, and both times they've offered me 2 months free to see if it gets better. But it never does.

Lovefilm emailed me today about some amazing "new" additions to their library. These were:

Armageddon (13 years old)
Flashbacks (Never heard of it)
RED (I saw it about 6 months ago on Virgin Film on Demand)
The Ghost (It's been out on DVD for over a year and is about £4 in Tesco)
Twilight Eclipse (Out on DVD for nearly a year about about £6 in Tesco)

I just don't see what LoveFilm are offering. It's a shambles.

you can't be bothered to post a disc every week or so?!?

Well I could and couldn't fault them. I've just left them as leaving the country and had zero hassle.

Sorry i think lovefilm is great. It's a lot better than the alternatives. Lovefilm is still mainly a disc rental service. If you can't be bothered to put discs in the post then that is your problem. As for the streaming service. I have found some hidden gems since joining but if you want to complain about the limited choice of streaming titles with in the package blame the film companies not Lovefilm.

Lovefilm is great. No complaints.

Post back DVD or Blueray and I normally receive the new disc within 2-3 days, Far better value than Sky movies. The online selection I have with my package is not great, but from a selection of over 5,000 films online there is usually something that I'l like. However I'm more interested in the vast disc choice.

Lovefilm maybe ok for getting actual discs through the post, but yes I agree their online streaming content is rubbish compared to others.

I cannot fault LoveFilm in any way. I don't use streaming as I prefer to have the actual disc and watch it on my TV rather than computer. I am making full use of the range of tv series available which cost a small fortune if I was to buy the DVD boxset. Nobody is too far away from a post box to complain about the hassle of posting. Its no hassle at all. By most people's standards, I am a lazy person, but not too lazy to go down to a post box every week. There's usually one in (or very close to) supermarkets, so when I do my weekly shop, I can do my weekly DVD posting.

LoveFilm (IMO) offer a superb service and I am delighted with the service I have received over the past 12 months.

These people are master spammers of my email accounts. I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. Also heard bad reports about them on the TV.

Which proves your ignorance. So Lovefilm can make any film available for streaming without the consent of the film distributors? No they can't! They are the ones preventing the online streaming from having the same sort of selection has what is available on blu ray and DVD.

I have to agree, I primarily got the service for the streaming service, and found the selection was appalling. I then tried cancelling with them, this led to another set of problems.

I phoned them up, and they told me that they couldn't cancel it then, and I would need to phone back a couple of days before the end of the monthly subscription. I tried arguing with them and they was adamant so gave up after another 20 minute conversation. I phoned back, closer to the date and I was able to cancel it.

In the next week I received 3 phone calls from them, asking me why I cancelled it, I explained that the streaming service selection was poor, and at this point it wasn't worth the money for it. I have now received a couple of emails a week, with 'special' offers, and a couple of letters in the post, its frustrating.

Having experienced the Netflix streaming in Canada, which has a large selection of films, and the streaming is quicker, and smoother, and its not to do with my connection, in fact my connection in canada is slower then what I have here. I am looking forward to Netflix getting over here, but looks like I will be back in Canada before that happens.

The mail order service has worked efficiently for me, but tbh when I may keep a game for 4 weeks, it means I could of actually bought that game for that amount, so have an agreement with the wife now, that I buy a new game each month.

I have to agree with you, a really good service. Just wish they would sort out that problem with Universal studios.

I have used Lovefilm for years now. I am quite happy with the posting bit and the films I get through. I do stream when I have no discs at home but I do not want to pay more than the £13 so I only watch the free ones.

This is the bit that I kind of agree with with the OP, a lot of decent films are there to rent but you have to pay an extra £2 or £3 per film, like iTunes I suppose. I just don't want to have to pay extra to watch the more recent films on streaming.

Now they are getting better with the streaming maybe they need to reassess the packages available? Some kind of streaming package or maybe letting you have 3 or 4 of the top films on streaming every month with your normal package for a few quid extra? Or some kind of nominal membership fee and then you pay for the streaming films as you watch them, and drop the DVDs- I might be interested in something like that.

Armageddon is 13 years old. Lovefilm charges £9.99 per month. This thread is in the online entertainment forum and I'm talking about the online element of the Lovefilm service. I have no interest in receiving discs in the post and posting them back.

The range on offer on Lovefilm's online service is absolutely terrible. For £9.99 a month it's really bad.

And it has already been explained that Lovefilm is still primarily a DVD and Blu ray rental service. The online streaming service is an extra service added on. Please tell me of a legal film streaming service that allows you to stream as much as you like for £9.99 per month which offers latest releases? Sites like Blinkbox are all pay per view and the reason for that is because the film distributors demand that. Lovefilm does also have some latest releases for streaming but cost extra for the same reason.

I'm not saying that someone else does it better, just that what they are doing is crap. The streaming service is a large part of Lovefilm's offering and they are trying to grow it.

It has already been explained that this is the online entertainment forum and that this is the aspect of Lovefilm's service that I am talking about. I'm not interested in renting discs or talking about renting discs.

I just don't see much value in Lovefilm's online offering. I think it's woeful.

Then Lovefilm obviously isn't for you. For me the picture is always superior on Blu ray and DVD so i often prefer watching films this way. Until online viewing offers full HD or even decent DVD SD quality i will only want the online stuff for the odd film. Also until the film industry starts making it easier for legal sites to offer good value online film services the illegal sites will continue to flourish.

Lovefilm online streaming is pretty limited to be honest, not that it bothers me as my package don't include it normally.

I tried it once when they gave me a trial. I prefer getting DVDs or Blue-ray disks to be honest, the only problem is It takes me too long to watch them, so don't get the value for money should be getting.

but I do like Lovefilm,

I loved it when I first got it, we were getting 3-4 DVDs per week and streaming on the nights when we didn't have one. I can always find SOMETHING to watch online, if it's not available free then I add it to my list.

It's gone downhill in the past month or so though. Not sure if it's them or Royal Mail but now we are getting 2 discs a week max even though I am sending them back at the same rate I was before.

I e-mailed customer service a while back to get some clarification on holiday pay. Got some generic response that didn't answer my question so e-mailed a further 3 times and none of them actually read my message, just send the same copy&pasted information. I gave up in the end but it really bugged me.

I don't find them that bad, they are good for postal dvd's, their online streaming is limited but I dont use it anyway, prefer dvd's.
