The advert even has someone using a random phone. It's certainly not an iPhone/iPad and looks nothing like any Android phone I've ever seen.

The reality is, 4OD is "only" on iOS devices from what I can gather.

Surely the advert is at best misleading or are they referring to 4OD desktop working on Android 2.2/Flash 10.3 smartphones? If so, that's definitely misleading and not what people expect when you say "it works on smartphones and tablets".

It's on Android too! Their website says iPhone/iPad only and I cannot find it on the Android market:

https://market.android.com/

I've tried 4OD and Channel 4. What's it called? It's an official Android app right?

Thanks. I didn't think so. What's the Mobile site address please?

It's rubbish mobile app developers still largely code for an iOS preference, when Android is easily as popular now.

Sorry, my phone doesn't automatically redirect could someone please give me the mobile URL? ... the main site videos play, but my phone's not keen on the frame-rate or bandwidth & only shows a frame every couple of seconds ... ould be good to try something optimised for a phone! ... I'm using the MicroB browser on the Maemo OS if that helps!

it's http://m.channel4.com/4od and works on my Galaxy S2.

Also the Sky Go app is finally available today for some android phones, including the S2. Search for "skygo" in the marketplace.

Plays on mine. I'm on 2.3.4 (which is the latest one for non branded SIM free SGS2s).

There is a flaw in that argument. iOS for mobiles is only available on iPhones. Android is available on hundreds of different handsets.

Afraid no matter how popular Android is, devs will find it much easier to make apps for iOS and have a preference. There are minority that will go against that but by large and far it is true.

The two things I had to do to get 4OD on my android phones were:

1. Use the basic browser that comes bundled with the phone. None of the after-market browsers seem to work. Opera Mini and Opera Mobile didn't work no matter what I tried and I remember not getting it with Firefox a while ago.

2. Make sure the browser is on the mobile version of the 4OD site. Mine did not automatically go to there from the google search and did not automatically redirect. I had to put it in manually as http://m.channel4.com/4od

With both those conditions in place, 4OD worked for me on both my android devices. One's a Sony phone, the other is a Dell mini tablet/phone.

It won't work unless the device can run "the latest flash player".
Some phone models aren't compatible with that as the main or graphic processors are deemed too slow, even though they happily play Youtube streamed videos etc.

The prompt to install the latest flash player was something I got while trying to get it with Opera and it didn't make any difference. Switching to the built in browser is what solved that issue. It's an incompatibility issue with after-market browsers rather than with flash player that's preventing playback.
