Samsung Galaxy Nexus to be Unveiled this Wednesday!
Hello DS!
This is my first post here so I thought I'd create something worth-while. As most of you know Apple let us down by unveiling the iPhone 4S which is pretty much an upgraded iPhone 4 with a dual core A5 chip, 8MP Camera with an additional optic and Siri (Well, its been ported to the iPhone 4 so cross this one out). We now need another phone to come onto the Market to forget about this 4S. Well, your in luck, Samsung and Google have rescheduled their event to this Wednesday at 6AM GMT (10 AM Tuesday HKT). The reason why I say its the Galaxy Nexus been unveiled, is because Samsung are there (duh) and Google will be unveiling the next iteration of Android. The question is, are you excited? Peace. |

I'm more bothered about the next Android version. If its rubbish I'm off with iOS. |

I live big screens, as long as it goes in my pocket. I use my phone more for data and text so the slightly bigger screen suits me. Will look forward to seeing it.

Unfortunately if the screen is the size that has been rumoured so far, this device wont be of interest to me.
4" screen is about as big as I want on a phone. Can't wait for ICS though. |

I'm not sure how you make Hong Kong Time 20 hours behind GMT. It is in fact 8 hours ahead of GMT.

So how will it compete with Siri?

3d hologram of the lady who provided the voice (65 year old Mavis Bung of Tooting) appears in your living room.

When there's a 3000 mAh battery in a smartphone I will be impressed.

According to rumors the Galaxy Nexus will have 2000mAh so, there must be ALOT of room in this phone.

The Nexus Prime (I don't like adding Nexus and Galaxy together) will kill all other phones including the iPhone 4S and SGS2.
The Nexus S didn't really set the benchmark like the Nexus One did, but this device looks like it will put the Nexus brand back at the cutting edge...Ice Cream Sandwich looks amazing, and I'm glad that they've brought the holographic-esque interface to phones, I really like the look of Honeycomb and it will be great to have that on a phone. Also the resolution of the display looks insane, and hopefully it will pack a decent processor as well, I'm expecting 1.5GHz dual-core...whether its Exynos or TI OMAP we'll have to wait until Wednesday to find out Also to watch the event live, is it 3AM after Tuesday or 3AM after Wednesday?

Same here, I also want the bigger screen
![]() ![]() Although phones these days are a lot thinner and not the bricks they used to be, it'll be interesting to see at what size users decide is the limit, I don't think I could handle more than 7" fnaar! fnaar!... |

I agree that screen sizes are getting way too big, even the SGS2 at 4.3 is too big, maybe something around 4 is the sweet spot. Do people want the screen for watching videos, or for a bigger keyboard Not too long ago, before touchscreen phones, smaller was better, (as Staunchy pointed out!) Remember those tiny Nokia phones years ago?

Yeah, as a bit of a geek, I'm looking forward to this. Even if just for the sheer spectacle of seeing what can be done when you chuck everything but the kitchen sink at a phone and give it a willy waving screen size. The big unanswered though is if it's got all the hardware it's rumoured to have, what's the battery life gonna be like? Big spec numbers are all very nice for playing phone top trumps, but if the cost is a battery life measured in minutes...

Specs have been outed! May come as disappointment to some. Alleged specs are: Quote:
We already knew about it's massive 4.65-inch screen, its 720 x 1280 resolution and Super AMOLED HD display and that it'll run the newest version of Android 4.0, but now the processor is revealed as well. Unfortunately, it's not the Exynos powerhouse with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor we were lead to believe, but rather it's a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor on a TI OMAP 4460 chipset.
The Galaxy Nexus's measurements are out as well and by the looks of it, it's an impressively thin device. It measures at 136mm x 68mm x 8.8mm at its thinnest point and 11.5mm at its thickest. Weight is 135g and battery will most likely be a 1750mAh one. As for the camera, unfortunately it's listed as 5MP one capable of shooting 1080p full HD video and 1.3MP on the front, but we still remain hopeful that the European market will see a Galaxy Nexus with an 8MP sensor on the back as some insider sources suggest. Memory and storage remain the same as earlier expected, 1GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard ROM respectively. LTE is definitely a go with the next Google phone and in the areas where it's not available, the Nexus will fallback to HSPA mode. |

Maybe its getting to the point where they get little use as phones.
Sales figures must show what people are choosing so just maybe a preferred size has not yet been reached. |

It's possibly worth pointing out that its 4.65" screen basically is the phone, and therefore its dimensions are not too dissimilar from the Galaxy S2's 4.3" screen + 0.3" or so to house the buttons, which will be on-screen instead on the Prime.

Lighter than some other phones and its use is not always for phone calls.
