i have the iphone 4s 32 gb in white and when i got it home and set it all up which went fine, i made my first call, i couldnt hear a thing looked down and i was connected but coudnt hear the person on the other end
this has now happened a few times, so i rang o2 who said im not the 1st to call about this
so they said once they get the stock they will swap it over

so i rang apple who have told me to restore factory settings and if it still happens bring it in and we will swap it over, they wouldnt tell me if this is a common fault !!!!

anyone else had this problem, if so what have you done with it so far

I haven't heard of any issues like this... Sure it isn't an O2 network problem it others have reported it?

I'm on O2 too, I haven't had any problems with the phone, well only when I was "holding it wrong", held in right hand, little finger on bottom (covering the microphone hole).

Daft question but I know 2 people who did this - have you still got the screen protector film on the phone, the one that was on the phone out of the box!?
I know someone who took their phone back because they couldn't hear anyone talk because they left the protector on - which covers the speaker! He says he felt so embarrassed. The other person I managed to tell in time before they too were left red faced lol

I have a white 32gb 4S from launch day on o2 and not had any problems either, so cannot help further I'm afraid.

I know someone that tests phones on a network, this is one of the faults they've found..are many more, some big issues with certain message types, something to do with voicemail notifications

Mines on 3. Had it a day but hadn't actually tested the calling function on it

It's working fine though
