At one point at Koko before the gig Matt's dad and Sarah were right behind myself and Mita chatting with Ali and a few others I just couldn't bring myself to interrupt him. Also Ali was there before the others for a bit and it was only when Pie popped up to say hello and when we pointed him out to her she started talking to him and then Mita and I said hello
Cant keep me mouth shut, nothing ventured, nothing gained........rather a funny moment I dont think I hugged him, did I??? cant quite remember..............lol

"Matt will also be joining Jo Whiley on Radio 2, for a special live session on Thursday evening".

Matt will also be on This Morning on Thursday.
Oooh I'm liking the sound of the live session..hope he gets to do more of these.. Fearne's live lounge please!!!
Now this is what I came galloping up the street to post about........brilliant, THIS is what we want guys

Hi folks, just arrived. New house I see, gosh we move around a lot. I got my CD today, acoustic version and I've just listened to it. I knew from everyone's comments that it was incredible but I wasn't expecting what I just heard. It's blown me away. I can't stop crying, I'm a blubbering mess. Don't know if it's partly all the excitement leading up to it but Matt's voice......sorry never usually get this emotional.. The tears are actually streaming down my face as I'm typing this. I need a hug.
Here is a tissue and a hug, I know, its all a tad odd but its nice to feel these things

AND MITA, hands off my chocolate!!!!! LOL

I know having a similar convo with K at the moment on Twitter she has found it extremely emotional too. Bless his cottons its a brilliant album.
Hi Mita. Really didn't expect to feel this way, a bit tearful at some of the songs but I feel as if I've been hit by a meteor or something. Sorry not making sense now, ignore me.

What's that creaking I hear in the MF? Oh as predicted it's the sound of goalposts being moved.

Now that it's looking likely he will chart in the top 2 albums, suddenly it's gone from he 'won't make the top 10' to an acceptance of 'of course he will chart at number 1/2' but 'hey look at the giant flops that also made these positions, and the generic 'my cat could be number 1' posts. (Without mentioning the appalling sales of said acts like Andy Abraham but anything to make them feel better eh.)
Then there's the posters who are saying it doesn't matter what he sells this week, it's all in the longterm, which I completely agree with but those same people weren't saying that last week.
Been looking around the threads and it really is just trolling. It does annoy me that if you try to start a genuine thread about the album people either aren't interested and would rather comment on the "Will Matt be a Flop Poll" as happened on the music forum, or if a serious thread is started on the X Factor forum it descends into Matt trolling.

There was an interesting thread about whether X Factor can support singer/song writing artists over pop acts. Part of me thinks it can't. It is such a struggle for artists like Matt to prove themselves worthy of singer/song writer status coming out of X Factor..... but then on the flip side where would Matt have been without it? Where would we be?

Albums doing great and it's all good in here.

Only just realised that it's the deluxe version that is #3 on iTunes - the standard version is #13.

Well said Cardoodle. Even though I was upset and crying, they were really happy tears because of Matt's achievement. Nobody can ruin this day for me.

I thought I'd drop in and give my thoughts on matters. I think the whole singer / songwriter thing is interesting . I was discussing with my sister (who has now bought the album) the problem that he has in that the XF / pop fans think he's dull and his music sucks (which tbf is a reasonable point of view if you are 17 and like Rhianna / Lady GaGa).

Unfortunately like many they think that they have a monopoly on taste and if something doesn't appeal to them it won't sell. There is no point arguing because as has already been said they move the goal posts. The fact is that none of us know whether it will be a success yet - it'll take at least 3 more weeks to know that. If it's still charting and selling by then it's got a great chance.

The other market won't entertain him because he was on the XF (my OH, my BIL and many OHs here) which makes it difficult for him to find a market. I think the choice of album songs is trying to cater to the female market as I assume they have decided that women are less likely to be effected by the anti-XF snobbery than men.

I think Matt and Columbia know this and I think the anti - Xf publicity is carefully orchestrated by the label to cut the ties because they know that long term it won't help him.

We need to separate our expectations from Matt's. He's got a top 10 single and going to have a top 2 album (probably) and even with the single sales he has; compared to where he was 18 months ago he's doing great.

I don't want to come over all Pollyanna because it's a tough industry and if Columbia decide that he cannot make the transition they want they will drop him BUT even if they do (and I don't think they will) he has a fanbase and the chance to make a career out of music which is all he ever wanted.

Hi Lennon - it was always going to be a double edged sword wasn't it - Matt knew it and we knew it, and said so during the lives, always in two minds if we wanted him to win or not. But the train turned out to be unstoppable didn't it.

btw, I apologise for not answering your q in 'the other place' but the answer is I absolutely adore John Lennon hence my somewhat negative views on the other person I mentioned lol. Anyway, I don't think I'll bother much with BJ apart from the charts info.

This is my favourite vid. Not sure why it "stands out" from the rest.
