That's great to hear - I started off not being all that keen on Cher, but as the weeks on XF rolled on I got to like her more and more. Saw her at the tour and was really impressed by her voice and stage presence. Going to BRMB Live where Matt and Cher are both on the bill. Looking forward to both.

Another new house - as others have said, very appropriate on Letters day. Currently listening to it again from start to finish. And then I'll have to try and get some sleep - early start so I can get to Oxford Circus before 8.30, grab a couple of wristbands with the help of one of my work colleagues so that I can give one of them to Cardie later on. I struggled to concentrate on work today, so it'll probably be even harder tomorrow. As you probably know it's a signing session plus an acoustic set for this one. I'm guessing that not all of the 400 people who get wristbands will also be able to get their album signed so just have to keep fingers crossed that we're far enough up the queue. My family think I've gone bonkers but I can't resist being able to hear Matt singing live again. If I get to say hello and get my KOKO ticket and one of my copies signed that will be a bonus (but I have already got a signed edition). Three parcels waiting for me when I got home!!

Its interesting WKD because I have never even heard of Jo Whitely so it just shows does it not how wide his fan base might possible be. He does have lots of young fans we know that however this meeting is going to be interesting and as you say a positive outcome might help him.

Ah so I did hear somewhere that she was keen or excited at the prospect of meeting Matt.

I think this bit is rather a sweeping statement WKD - we can tell from his twitter fans that many of them are in the age group and musical tastes you describe, many of them are Cher and 1D fans too. And your point is certainly not borne out by the YT views, of which the 13-17 female demographic feature large. The problem (and we've yet to see if he really does have a problem) from my pov is the very broadness of his fan base (and indeed it may turn out to be spread too thinly ) and the difficulties of pin-pointing an appropriate marketing strategy. His PR have been stuck with using a brush that has been too broad and not fine enough (if that makes sense). I certainly think that a greater detachment from the XF label should help them with their strategy in the future, assuming, of-course, that album sales pass Columbia's (unknown, even to the all-seeing MF) acid test.

I also think - and forgive me if I'm making entirely the wrong assumption about this part of your post - that it's mistaken to collapse together the 'goal-posting' on the MF with the 17 year-old pop loving audience. I think the MF just hates us and feels the need to ridicule because we've got so many parts () and are so very enthusiastic.

I am a simple soul just enjoying the fact that Matt's album is out and the happiness that Matt is feeling at the moment concerning said album.

Just imagine having worked all of those years 14 was it and then getting a break like the XF which showcased his talents.

I wish him well and hope that his career is a long and successful one regardless of the route he decides to go down.

I have listened to the album which my OH insisted on going and buying for me as mine have not arrived from Play. I am hoping they arrive tomorrow so that I can listen to the Deluxe copy. I have my favourites on the album which is the first album I have purchased for years and years and years..........I had to buy it I love the songs and of course Matt's voice.

I just hope that all Matt's fans are getting the same amount of enjoyment and feeling of pride at having supported such a talented person. xxxxx

Welcome to the UK Chosen, I wish you many happy years here!!

Well I gave up waiting for Play and headed for Tescos in the OH s car (Better sound system) As you all know it was 1 on the chart and in a good position at eye level on thr racks! There was another woman there buying one, and the checkout girl said she loved him too. I bought Evanessance too which I have to say is pretty EPIC IMO!!
So I drove around aimlessly for an hour and a half listenning!!
When I got home My CD from play was sitting on my hall table LOL!! Oh! well you cant have too much of a good thing!!

Im one of these people who knows instantly if I am going to like something or not. I did this with Starlight, Letters, and walking on Water, which remain my faves!!

I also loved BOABH but had not realised. from the preveiw, just how beautiful it is!
The heartbeat sound of that accoustic guitar ,and Matts voice What more do you need!!

AFN has definitely grown on me but its not up there with my faves!

PMU, Faithless, reflections and Slowly Im really not sure about ! I hate to say it but they sound a little Take Thatish to me, Sorreeee!
Having said that I adore the Accoustic of Slowly!! It takes on an entirely different feel done that way I think
Amazing is lovely, but I cant say that it really grabs me that much.

Apart from RFYL I would have to say that oddly SAL is one of my least favourites, Its ok until it gets to The bit where he sings "OH, Oh, Stars a-and Lovers" But I just find that bit sounds really dated. And the choir in the background make it sound like "Christmassy Pop" ! I hope they dont bring that out as a single myself!

Starlight and letters are by far my favourites!! I love the way they kick in!! and build, and build towards the end!! Closely followed by WOW! Which is another Stunner IMO!

I adore all the accoustic tracks!! For You is just beautiful!! Again WOW is WOW!! and Letters gorgeous!!

I said before that I think its a good thing that we all have different favourites, as it means there is something for everone!

One thing I would say is that I would definitely have prefered less sentimental tracks and more belty ones!!

If Matt can mix things up on the next album I would personally like him to "Man up" a bit and give it more Balls!!

Hi everyone Havent had a chance to catch up and read everything , Im liking no 38 . My copy of Letters has arrived from HNV but with the xfactor songs when I wanted the acoustic one Had to download then from itunes Love the album so much I keep listening over and over again Have to go now because have to be up early to queue up for the HMV signing in the morning Hope to see some of you there. Think the albums doing great and Im not worried for Matt at all.

Yes it is a sweeping statement because it was a generalisation; I know he has fans of all ages (just like for some reason I cannot fathom some grown women are 1D fans) but you cannot discuss at the granular level. As a whole (and Matt himself says this too) his fans are older and therefore less likely to be into the sort of stuff that is popular now in the singles charts. My 12 year old can barely listen to a single song all the way through unless it's in 2 parts - let alone a whole album and none of Matt's songs are instant enough for her. So (and she would never say this to me) for her he is pretty dull, just as her stuff gives me a headache.

My goal post moving point was just about the MF not teenagers generally. I don't agree that they hate us; I think they hate everyone (if you read the Cher download thread that is clear)

I agree with you about the broad brush thing and that was the point I was trying (and clearly not succeeding) to make - that Columbia has decided on a target market and is going after that at the expense of younger fans (although some will stay with him). This is a big risk for an XF winner when every XF act to date has been pushed at the singles market BUT I think it's the right one if he is going to have any longevity. We just need out tin hats in the meantime

It's shaping up well to be a huge hit. I'm hoping that his versatility is going to be put to good use whether this album is successful or not. He's got so much to offer I want to hear ALL of it !

Hi Laura, lovely that you've downloaded Matt's tracks. You must be over the moon with Cher's success. Her latest single is brilliant. I remember thinking at her first audition that she had a real future. Although not the same style, something about her reminds me of Madonna. Like Matt, I think there's a lot more to come with that young lady.
