The thing I'm personally happiest about is that it appears on the first page of results when you search "Matt Cardle" on Youtube ... I think that ideally, we need to get to the point where that first page comprises almost entirely of non-X Factor related Matt videos.

I'm actually of the opinion that Matt/his management should take Youtube promotion a little more seriously, and think about steadily recording and uploading some covers. There's a band on Youtube called Boyce Avenue, for example, who regularly put out acoustic versions of popular songs and use it as a way to attract new fans all over the world (who'll presumably then listen to their own stuff). If Matt and the label were prepared to pay the price required to get away with covers like this (presumably they did it for the Set Fire to the Rain and Paparazzi?), I think they might be surprised at how quickly these videos start getting more hits than the old X Factor ones. I mean, full recordings of First Time (with simple piano accompaniment), Just The Way You Are (simple guitar accompaniment) and Nights in White Satin outside of the X Factor studio would be good, for example, as people might start listening to those instead of the 2 minute X Factor versions. It's a case of working out how to twist that mainstream exposure in a beneficial way.

I think they need to get their thinking caps on, because the Adele cover is clearly going down well, and as the views increase, people who are searching casually for "Adele covers" on Youtube will come across Matt. With a bit of thought, some strategically placed cover versions might just work as a promotion technique. And get Invited up asap, for goodness sake !! The tracks don't have to be extensively mixed and mastered, the quality of the MTV recordings would suffice.

Sorry for rambling!! Sometimes I just wish I was part of his PR team, because there's stuff they don't seem to be thinking of!

I agree you need to be part of his Pr TEAM. Have you applied because we all adore Matt's voice and talents however you seem to be more focused than perhaps I am say.

The Adele YT was brought to many peoples notice via Matt tweeting link to it too. I agree with you though we need more promotion out there; however don't forget not all of his fans are computer literate there are many who don't own a computer. I wonder how they might be contacted promo wise.

I've reread the interview because I couldn't think of anything bad Matt said and the only thing would be his little jibe about people in the Shetlands having nothing better to do with their time (explaining why his gig was so well attended) - but I assumed that was just tongue in cheek.

I am pleased that Matt achieved number 2 in Ireland, particularly as the single didn't do too well. I really hope sales can be sustained over the next few weeks because the worst thing now would be for the album to drop quickly. I've only seen Matt's TV advert once whereas Joe's TV advert appeared on a regular basis during quite popular shows. The label needs to keep pushing the album and reminding people about Matt.

I'm getting fed up with some of the negative media 'spin'. My friend told me that Emma Willis, who presents the Big Brother extra show, made a very sarcastic remark about Matt the other day - something about him turning against the show that made him. It was in her opening introduction so would have been fed to her by the BB producers. I don't think Big Brother has a large audience anymore but those kind of comments can insiduously influence people's perceptions of Matt.

Haha yeah, I was rather chuffed with that! Hopefully he might have already come to the same conclusion as me anyway - it's good that he's been varying up the playlist at these different sessions.

To be honest I wish I was even more involved than that! With his raw singing talent I want to be co-writing. Move over Barlow and gang! Actually, producing might be better

Haha well, as a guy, I'm not as prone to ... distraction, perhaps ! Nooo, his team wouldn't listen to a Uni student! Maybe I should start attending these signings and pitching my cases there ... "Matt ! Don't worry about signing my album, just tell the execs you're putting up covers whether they like it or not" !

I feel this is a key issue at the moment mita especially with the recent signings where there has been zero promo beyond twitter and Matt's site

Marella hi as far as I am aware Matt was thrilled with the shows in Shetland and in Orkney. I was at the Inverness show and I understand what he was talking about and therefore don't listen to negative reports. Don't worry about them Matts album is doing well and he is working is b..t off to ensure it is promoted. I have just watched Matt on the Album Chart show and the presenter was extremely respectful. However I understand you concern with regards to BB which I used to watch and no longer do so. Matt has people out there who appreciate his work and have purchased his album. Maybe he is doing too well for some and they don't like it hard luck to them.

Mm, I think they should be showing a TV advert more often, but not the one with Dermot speaking over When We Collide and Run For Your Life. I liked the video/colour scheme and everything, but WWC will remind lots of musos that he's "the guy that ruined Many of Horror". A quick snap of RFYL, Starlight and a couple of other album tracks would do the trick with a more simple voiceover "Matt Cardle's debut album Letters - out now, featuring the singles Run For Your Life and Starlight".

Maybe two seperate adverts, one with clips of Run For Your Life, All For Nothing and Beat of a Breaking Heart with the brown colour scheme, fields of wheat etc. (you know what I mean ) and one greyscale one of Starlight and Letters being played in front of big crowds. It'd show those two different sides to the album and peak interest about the other songs ...

It has been promoted on FB however its needs to be promoted in HMV and if and it is not. I find this wierd as they are selling a product and yet are not willing to promote it. If I were HMV I would make sure that any posters or whatever were place on the window. I mean a customer might buy more than one cds whilst in a euphoric state after seeing Matt even more than one.
Glasgow has posters yet Oxford St., did not thats what I find really interesting. Someone needs to get on to this from the promo team.

Apparently there were posters someone mentioned it yesterday in their review. Oh in the Glasgow one I think not too sure about the Edinburgh one though.

Well my main issue with current one is Dermot saying "this is your X Factor winner". I can see what they had in mind - having the comforting voice of the X Factor host endorsing the product/reminding everyone that he was the people's choice. But the fact is, all the people who watch the programme already know who he is/where he came from, and the people who are snobbish about the show don't need reminding. It's such a basic error in my opinion.

Whilst I understand where your coming from many people are not as aware as we are of Matt's other talents musically. They only saw Matt on the X Factor. There should be some way of introducing Matt to them so that it catches their attention however what is ?
