Im just popping back in just incase anyone thinks I am being negative . Im really not!
I would say that the album, as a whole, is head and shoulders above so much of the chart music of today. Most of which seems to have been recorded using the same backing track!!
Ive completely lost track of signings etc. I see some are going to one tomorow!! Have a great time all!!

)Yes, I agree they've gone for the more mature age group female fans - and I do agree that overall it's been the right approach, just not always particularly well-executed. AND, Matt wrote the material he wrote and (with the one well-known exception, ahem) I do believe that his album speaks from his own heart. It's certainly touching my heart (mature female fan lol)

Jeez guys! I'm struggling to keep up these days - grrr at real life! 
I'm absolutely cream crackered, but can't let the day go past without a post.
Well I nearly ended in a bush on the way to work today having my first listen. I absolutely love that lyric in Amazing about putting yourself in the firing line to take the bullet....you know the one I mean. Starlight is epic and would have been a perfect first single, but hey, if they are starting to play on the radio, better late than never! BOABH - oh my God, such a touching song....
My overall impression is that I would have liked to lose a track and replace with Sparks, but I couldn't tell you which one!
I hope I get a Cardle cuddle tomorrow. God bless Cat for trying to get me a wristband sorted.

I don't like Stars and Lovers as much either for exactly the same reason as you. Exactly. I love Sparks but I'm not a fan of Chemical. I know that on the thread lots of people adore Chemical. It's rare that I buy an album where I like all the songs. Some I don't like as much as others, it's a personal preference. It's good to hear other opinions. That's what this forum is all about.

- wish she was the Gruntad's music reviewer, she really seems to 'get' the album, it's very much what I'd write if I was able to express things in that way. Unlike so many of the other reviewers, it sounds like she's actually listened to the album, possibly even more than once . Love this bit "Maybe the album should come with a complimentary box of tissues." yes indeedy!

Oh I have have also highlighted some text in your post which expresses my feelings on the whole situation. I think that we are looking at someone who has shown how versatile he is on the XF show which is where Columbia saw him perform diverse songs and then bid for him............I think that their perspective on Matt as that of a new artist and are conducting the whole album and single campaign as such an example being the Scotland gigs as this is their normal route for testing the waters.
I have woken up now and will have to go and get myself a hot drink.

I love that they played All For Nothing and Pull Me Under (well parts of them anyway) - felt so proud listening
. And yes, they really had listened to the album hadn't they, each with their own favourites.

I'll buy the Big Issue if I can find someone to buy it from. Our local vendor got on her feet and has a job, home and lots of smiles now.
I gather they also looked at Matt's back catalogue of recordings with Darwyn and Seven Summers so that should also show something of his versatility ... then there are those pub performances, totally different again. I think if you cut him in half, you'd find pure music inside.

Finally home and my CD was waiting for me I have the same problem as Pedsky though, no booklet! How ridiculous! I was looking forward to looking through it. The CD is there though and that's the main thing. I've been at work for 12 hours though so I kinda just want to go to bed. I'll give it a whizz through and listen properly tomorrow
