If you look at this year's figures - Adele's 21 which has had worldwide success on the level of no album for years sold less than Leona did in her first week.

Matt has sold almost as many albums this week as Joe's Wide Awake sold in total and is in the top 10 first week sellers of the year. That said it's all about momentum. He's done really well this week but he needs to take advantage of the radio 2 thing, get Starlight out there (hopefully with R1 airplay) and then get the tour announced to keep up the profile and keep the sales coming in.

Most albums halve in sales in week 2 but if he can keep selling 25k plus units between now and xmas he'll do very well indeed.
The best thing about this week's sales is that they will hopefully encourage the label to confirm the tour venues and announce the tour within the next couple of weeks and then we can all go and blow loads of cash on concert tickets”

I'm trying to go to bed however I felt compelled to come on and agree with this post of yours Wkd .People have got to look at things differently. I was very interested in the Adele and Leona info makes you think.

Ah nice one, I didn't think it was last week but people were using that as yet another reason why the album should totally have sold better when the midweeks come out

Basically they just play the album tracks I think, a different one each day, sometimes 2 a day. I listened when Will's album was album of the week.

To showcase the album I'd hope they play Amazing for sure, Stars and Lovers, Walking on Water maybe Pull Me Under. Will be good to hear the tracks on the radio!

Just popping in to say well done to Matt on #2. The album sales have been great whichever figure is correct - I am inclined to agree with Wkd and going for 85K, the technically correct answer and given the source it should be the correct figure.

The R2 record of the week and album of the week are played on the Ken Bruce show in the mornings and the Alex Lester show after midnight. I don't listen to Alex Lester so no idea what time he plays them, but the pattern on the Ken Bruce show is that the record of the week gets played everyday at about 10:15am. Regarding the album of the week, they play a different track from the album each day (so 5 in all) at between 11:15am and 11:30am.

Crabbie hello! I'm Tracy Morter (I joined here many years ago with my maiden name) I randomly (I was googling for a twitpic I posted once, being lazy, and somehow found you posting about me meeting Matt, google works in mysterious ways) found your comment! Matt was lovely at Brownstock ( I have a proper pic of him here http://www.tracymorter.com/gallery/m...ownstock_2011/ ) he kind of illustrated our point with rage. I saw him play in Seven Summers already...hard working artist having to do X factor to get anywhere! So hard for people to get recognised now. He did indeed say he loved the rage thing.
Oh and hello lovely Sue amazinsuphilips !

Hello all,

another flying visit to say huge congrats to Matt on the number 2 album, I hope it sticks around the charts for quite a while as non-Matt fans realise it's a great little debut and buy it.

I got tickets for the RadioCityLive gig on 2 December so I'm really looking forward to that. I will be treating the Echo arena like a large oversized pub and just sitting and having a drink through all the other acts then going a bit craxy when Matt comes on

Ditto - trying to work out best way to co-ordinate ticket purchases so we can be together. Maybe one of us goes for Cambridge and the other for London tickets? Hope we're not restricted on number of tickets to buy but we won't know that til Friday morning when we purchase!! Also not sure yet if DD and OH will want to come too. Have texted DD and will ask OH tonight.

March 2012 is going to be the next best month ever!!!!!
