Best phone battery life

What's the best android phone for battery life for £200 or less?

edit: when I say £200 or less I mean on PAYG, preferably orange network but that's flexible

Does anyone have any opinions? Even a "don't get that one, it's rubbish" would help

I've got an HTC Desire HD and I use it as a data terminal - as Phone it's useless.
I need to be contacted 24/7 regardless of where I am so I have a very old Sony Ericsson which has a battery life at least a week.
The HTC is a fantastic gadget and I wouldn't be without it but if I was out hill walking in bad weather I wouldn't rely on it.

If battery life is your primary requirement then get an old phone. I get around 5 days out of my Samsung Tocco Ultra; its an adequate enough phone, camera, video, internet etc.

On the Android front my Galaxy S2 with the default battery does well to get 24 hours with heavy usage. (Wifi,GPS,lots of apps, background syncing). Think being careful I can stretch it to twice that (maybe more?).

Can definitely recommend you look into 3rd party extended batteries. Picked one up for a tenner on ebay inc a new back to fit it in and now get around 50% more life.

I do have an old phone at the moment that lasts forever (Sony Ericsson funnily enough), but I was just looking at treating myself to a smartphone.

24 hours is loads compared to a phone I had recently (I took it back partly because the battery gave about 2 hours use). I'll look at that one, thanks.

I had no idea you could get extended batteries either, thanks for the tip!

I ditched my HTC Desire for a Nokia X6 - not as nice an O/S but the battery lasts for days and the phones on 24/7.

I get a solid 7-8 days out of my ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco) after disabling data and 3G and only switching on WiFi when i need it. It's running CyanogenMod 7.1 though rather than than the stock firmware, so that may help.

I was using a Motorola Defy for a while and that had a pretty decent battery standby time once it had a few charging cycles, I always thought it was a nice understated phone, decent screen and good call quality, the Motoblur software was a mixed bag though.
My sister has a Samsung galaxy S2 which has a pretty good battery life according to her.

Hmmm.... my wife charges her phone 1-2x everyday on her Blackberry Curve. It spends more time on charge than in use.

I own a Nokia C2 and I charge mine twice a week....if that

Thanks for all your suggestions, I'm looking at them all.
I want something that will last enough to browse the web for a few hours e.g. while travelling etc. I don't mind if it's something that I have to charge once a day.

Actually, now I'm in 2 minds about a tablet rather than a phone.

I agree with your previous post. I used to have a Torch (9800) until recently and charged it about twice a week. I suspect that the new models aren't quite as efficient.
