As a Rachel fan I do think that Tom was massively undermarked in his series. His QS and salsa should have had more marks than what he had and the judges favouring Lisa snowdon was out of line judging totally.
He absolutely was. It really angered me at the time when people said he didn't deserve it, because he was ridiculously underrated by the judges.
I know there was the whole semi-final incident, but let's not forget, the only reason why he was even in that position was because the judges gave Snowdon horrendously high marks to begin with.
Paul you suddenly seem to have become obsessed about Tom Chambers this is not the first thread you have started about him today....is there a reason why you have started to think about it.

Lisa was an upper class performer mostly due to the romantic manner of her ballroom
Her lines so natural and soft and her pure dance intepretaion and sheer musicality were a treat and unlike Tom she danced for the partnership where as Tom danced for Tom
But Lisa was not a good latin dancer - she was not an all rounder - she barely moved in it. The judges inflkated her scores because they knew that she was the only person thjat Rachel could beat and win the title. They knew she wouldn't stand a chance against Tom - and so it proved
Right person won strictly that year. And by heavan did Camilla deserve it after being shafted with Gethin the previous year

I like this theory, it certainly would explain why the judges seemed to simultaneously lose their minds the moment Lisa and Brendan completed a routine.
A perfect 40 for her CCC was just embarrassing.
Maybe it's why Matt di Angelo got a 40 for his very modest Waltz the week Gethin left..

Trust me, I was a massive Rachel fan. But her showdance was naff compared to Tom's and she showed perhaps as little personality as was physically possible. A great shame.
Camilla excelled herself in that showdance. She took risks by doing a ballroom based showdance - and let Tom shine on his own. She played a supporting role. It was genius on her part. Vincent played it way too safe
I miss Camilla - loved that quickstep she choroegraphed for Tom, a lovely foxtrot for him - and a fab ballroom tango. And that Salsa should have had 40/40 in the final - Bruno was just trying to find fault for the sake of it

Tom's showdance was taken from a style he had been interested in for years and used all his past acting and dancing training. What was more it was all very vote pleasing - the style was literally designed and tested for entertainment success. . Rachel wasn't an actress and didn't have a kit bag filled with ready made performances just waiting for a detailed routine. Vincent couldn't think of one from scratch. Its one of the years where past experience wins in the show dance after a comprehensively weaker performance everywhere else in the last two rounds.

The showdance was good but all his other stuff was average - he even stumbled in the final, and his Viennese waltz they did alongside R & V was poor - too much rise and fall which Camilla never corrected despite being told often enough.

You can spot an avid fan when there's over the top and vague complements to the dancing without any real proof to back of the claim that the dancing was good. If you want to prove that her dancing was good, be a bit more specific or use technical words. After all beauty is subjective. And it may have been a treat for you because she is a tall beautiful woman.

Tom would not have been in the final without votegate (which Len caused by underscoring Rachel, giving the lowest score of all the judges to her ballroom dance).
The tie effectively was the winner for Tom, not his dancing.
With being so massively undermarked and forgetting to let everyone know that he was getting married, or that Camilla had never been in the final before, he must have had a terrible time....

And how can he have been undermarked when he won it???”
The situation arises becauses the judges "mark" the performers and they did consistently undermark Tom throughout the series, right down to the Chambersgate fiasco!!!
However, the winner of the competition is decided by the viewers votes with no input from the judges "marks".
