Sorry but I have to disagree, all this family seem to do is either shout at every single person, they haven't quite grasped the art of conversation. the only decent one is Mickey

We don't all write as though we're pretending to write a review for the local paper.

People ARE allowed to dislike the family, you know. Their reasons might seem pathetic to you, but they are valid to the writers, and your early views of the Slaters are completely beside the point.

Do people hate/dislike the family in the same way they dislike the Ferreira's, ie. the characters just don't work, or is it that people hate the family as people. You wouldn't want to live next door to the Battersby's, but that doesn't mean you won't watch them (I know some peole are going to say they won't watch the battersby's, but that's not the point). The Millers are low lifes who shout at each other and are thoroughly obnoxious, but if that's why we don't like them, then that's the idea. We're not meant to like these people but if we can watch them, then EE have got it right. If you don't like the Millers because you don't think they work (like the ferreiras) then ok, but if you don't like them because they're god-awful people, then that's how they're meant to be.

I wouldn't like them living next door, that's true. But I don't like them because they're (so far) very one-dimensional. I haven't seen anything that makes me sympathise with them or like them in any way. I find it hard to watch them because I know how they're going to react/behave in any situation. Part of this comes from getting to know them, of course, but so far it's just been BANG BANG BANG.

The stories have also been a bit contrived and not very realistic. If somebody stole my new bed I would get onto the police. There's no way I'd end up having to buy a another one, let alone negotiate with the shop for the thieves to have the original one at discount. And the thought that Rosie would believe Keith would dally with Poline Fowler, whose old enough to be his mom, is laughable. I realise the idea is to make us believe they're loveable rogues, but so far it ain't working. I don't even feel sorry for the teenager with a cushion up her jumper since she stole Lucy Beale's pocket money.

Fair enough. I just wanted to know whether people hate the family as people or as the actors & storylines.
