I liked the old Britney, i LOVED everything about her back then.
I don't get the appeal now as she is not bothered herself so why should I?!!!
but i'll always have a soft spot for her.

I have always adored her as an artist, she is an incredible dancer, not to mention a very underrated singer with quite a distinctive and unique voice, and most importantly, her albums are always fresh and new, she changes and evolves her sound with each new era.

I love no other artist more. I don't really know what it is about her but no matter what she does she always manages to hold my attention whatever!

I do think think however that this poll will have more no's than yeses because more people don't like an artist than do!

I love Britney, the tone of her voice, her dancing ability (post Blackout) and her music's always great. She seems really sweet too.

Britney can make any song. Blackout is one of the pop albums of the 21st Century, and in her prime she was an unstoppable entertainer...

I don't think she's anywhere near that now though, she just wants to be a mother to her children imo. But even now I enjoy her music and while she has lost her vocal talent, I respect her as an artist...

Plus her catalogue of hits is just amazing...Britney is a pop icon in my view

Of course i like her in fact i love her as an artist, she is amazing, she has great albums, great songs, i love her voice 'may not be the best' but i love it raw, she is great to see at concert her shows.

And most of all she is the most down to earth pop star around she has not let fame get to her head .

I liked her when I was younger, when she was just starting out and was all poppy...

...But then... her music started evolving as my music taste started to evolve. As she moved away from bubblegum pop, so did I, and I went through my phases of different music basically at the same pace as Britney! R'n'B inspired music on Britney, Rawer and more sensual music that featured on In the Zone, to the darker electropop of Blackout towards the end of my teenage years, and then the happier electro pop with Circus, and now Femme Fatale seems confident and adult, like I feel now! So despite merely liking her at the start of her career, I now love her!

I don't know if it's fate, but Britney was there with me throughout my childhood and teenage years! So I'm always going to be a fan of her as an artist!

I get her flaws that people criticise. She has never ever marketed herself as a singer, but instead as a performer, and that is what she has been through her career. People need music they can just let loose to and have fun, and Britney caters to that. Adele, despite a powerhouse voice, couldn't sing a song like Toxic or Slave 4 U and get people on the dancefloor the same way Britney does.

Yes. Most of the time, anyway. I think moments like today, where she produced one of the best music videos of the post-breakdown era of her career, if not THE best, it's great.
But there are other days where she just couldn't look any less bothered.

She has improved a lot since Blackout, and I think she'll improve some more, but unless she gets out of that conservatorship and getd more dedicated to herself and her career we won't see anything like "The Old Britney" again.

No. She's not an artist. She's a puppet.

That doesn't mean that she is/was a fantastic performer. She's just not an artist IMO.

I disagree so far as her early career, but I'll admit that the Cricus era made it look very puppety, and the Femme Fatale era up until "I Wanna Go".

Britney's career isn't built on her following instructions without input of her own. Her record label obviously were guiding her as a teenager who was new to the industry, but her drive and determination, as well as her creativity got her to this point in her career. The video that cemented her in the music scene "Baby One More Time" was conceived by her. Britney put her career before anything and worked damn hard to prove herself. Songwriting be damned, she was a performer and put her blood sweat and tears into her craft. Then, as she was established her songwriting skills came into play. The number of songs she co-wrote increased per album. "Everytime", a Britney classic, was written and composed by Britney and one other writer. Everytime was one of nine songs co-written by Britney on that album. Blackout, her most acclaimed album, includes songwriting AND, the album was executive produced by Britney.
Circus is where the puppetry began, mainly because of the post-breakdown issues. I Wanna Go, the Femme Fatale Tour, and the new Criminal video show huge steps to her regaining control of her career and image!

I appreciate her as a performer/dancer and I think she has a certain 'star quality' that a lot of her contemporaries and peers don't have.

However, I cannot stand her voice, I think her media personality is fake and of her entire discography I enjoy three songs.

Well, she might not be extremely talented as a musician, but I like a lot of her songs, and I loved her when I was little aswell.

She is not an "artist" by artists sake of what it means to be an "artist" but she is a Popstar and Pop Icon....like Kylie! on the same level!

Had a massive influence on pop culture 1999 - 2004! and her breakdown coverage was everywhere 2005 - 2008! and we have seen her steady recovery 2008 - today! and she continues to improve.

In The Zone, Blackout and Femme Fatale are genius Pop albums! absolutely different and fantastic and always on replay wherever possible!

I have loved her since Baby One More Time so always will no matter what! As a lvie eprformer she varies, her music videos since 2007 have been variable....but JUST seen the Criminal video and it is honestly the first video by her i have LOVED since Everytime! I can rewatch it and find something interesting about it. It captures what this era is about! Its fun, dark, edgy, quirky, honest stuff! And avain makes me wish she will read a script for Tarantinos next movie and be one of the main cast! she could nail an absurd role!

So i voted Yes, she however is not an "artist" but in terms of Pop she is one of the best things to happen to it ever! and still today she is a strong Pop Icon! I just hope more people warm to her in the future and she continues to improve!

I love Britney, "old" and "new".

I'm the first to admit my fangirling of her is at least partly down to nostalgia, as when she hit the scene I was only fourteen and the target audience but I think she's progressed to a credible entertainer for adults too. Her whole Femme Fatale era is absolutely amazing. I also loved Blackout. I did find the Circus album to be her weakest but I loved the Circus tour.

I paid a small fortune for tickets to see her at the o2 next Friday and I can't wait. She's awesome live even with lip syncing, and, honestly, if I wanted to see a true singer perform I'd be going to a Celine Dion or Leona Lewis concert. With Britney, I go for the sheer spectacle she offers.
