We were waiting for Darren to storm the stage and knock his block off, not that Lilia wasn't completely capable of doing it herself.

Darren did come on and took Lilya out of harms way if I recall ,

I don't think - she seemed to get on very well with Brian Capron who was a useless dancer but seemed a lovely man. I think it was Gary's attitude which annoyed her how he spent very little time rehearsing due to doing other things (from his day in the life of it seemed he spent more time talking about SCD than rehersing for it). His shouting matches with Karen I think did a lot to discourage her from coming back - she must look at some of the contestants these days and be glad she's out of it.

I don't think Flavia disliked Craig per see - he was a nice man despite his faults - but she obviously found him a nightmare to teach and dance with to the extent were she looked like she'd won when they were voted off and he was totally oblivious to this - he always looked like he didn't have a clue what was going on generally. Their interviews were very funny in a cruel sort of way as they were on totally different wavelenghts - they reminded me of that brummie/scouser couple in an ad years ago - where he talks about what he wants to do and her vo says she wants to the extant opposite and it finishes with him saying "we want to be together" and the look on her face says 'I'd rather remove my own toe nails with pilers".

I really admired him for that actually - I think he and Kelly were a great partnership because they are so similar but it also lend to them having a few arguements that were quickly made up afterwards - people tend to either be firey types who lose their tempers easily but calm down quickly or types who take a long time to lose their cool but find it hard to get over it once they do.

Pamela wrote a big article about how much she loved James last year so was a bit suprised to read another article just before this season of SCD saying she hadnt spoken to James in a while as thought they got on??????
Some people do seem to be "favoured" contestants - Alisha; Zoe and Pamela and get asked back - however it may be the botox but am just not that fussed on Dr. Pamela.”

This seems to be typical showbusiness. Professing undying love for one another during a programme/show or whatever and then as soon as the show is over, no contact. Look at the romance between Brian and Alison a few years ago. The "romance" died as soon as the professional work died down. I wonder how many of the professional dancers actually keep in touch with their ex-celeb partners? How many celebs actually keep up their dancing lessons after SCD? Very few I am sure. It seems most of the celebs do SCD to revive dying careers and get a higher media profile.

I think I've seen an interview with Georgina what's her face where she said that the dislike between herself and James was really played up because it made a good "story". It was clear early on that she wasn't going to be a contender and then the producers looked for an angle. Apparently they didn't get on too badly at all.

I'm very sceptical regarding all this relationship stuff. I'm sure that most of the professionals are...well...too professional...to let their private feelings get in the way.

The couple I would agree on is Karen and Gary Rhodes, though. The antagonism there was very obvious.

He kept on about wanting to get far enough to do a ballroom dance but went out too early, so they brought him back on the CiN show but he danced (waltz?) with Flavia not Karen, most certainly no love lost between them

just noticed this thread which I've found very interesting. I think that the most notable has been Pamela and James as all during SCD you would think they were best of mates but I saw them on tour and they didnt even stand together. As others have said Pamela hasnt spoken to James since the tour. You might put it down to leading their own lives but I'm pretty sure James wasnt keen on what pamela said about his wife and he found out what the real woman was like not the fawning, fake, insincere thing we got on the tele. Oh by the way I'm not a Pam fan.

There's prob something in that.
Though Gary did seem almost too eager (which is an irconic thing to say with Strcitly and learning to dance) of which Karen seemed to find it abit too much, from what I remember.

Gary's reliably true real-life sister came on here and posted:

that during their practice sessions, if the two were sitting inside one canoe navigating shark-infested waters, both would agree to cut the boat in half and go down separately.

In our house we used to love the close-up couple shots when they were just about to go and dance on the show or when the phone-line banner came up in the Tess-pit. Poor Flavia used to look like a hostage, pleading down the camera lens with her eyes, begging us to get her out of this nightmare. We're a cruel bunch, the SCD crowd

Anton and Laila?

Well, Anton and anybody. He's an excellent ballroom specialist but could YOU be doing with him? I couldn't.

Ah yes - I'd forgotten those two. The great Rumba Scandal of 2009. Did she actually fall on some stairs? Was it an accident? Or an on-purpose? Could she really not get through 90 seconds of dancing? Or was it all just one rumba-writhe too far for poor Laila having to act all sexy with Anton on prime-time tv? Happy days

Yes, wasn't there some tension between him and Patsy Palmer? Or there was until Craig slated her in the press and Anton stuck up for her?

On the flip side of the coin there are the Showmances (real or contrived) and sometimes they do extend for a while after the series ends.

It was rumoured that Brendan Cole and Natasha Kaplinsky had "a thing" going on, then there was Camilla Dallerup and James Martin.

Flavia Cacace stayed a good while with Matt di Angelo and is currently seeing Jimi Mistry.

Kara Tointen is loved up with Artem Chivingsky and Joe Calzaghi is with Kristina Rhianoff
(apologies for all/any bad spellings of surnames)

”

there was definitely something there especially during VW week, as I remember Bruno saying he'd never seen a couple so much in love. I still think of them when I watch Saturday kitchen Do you remember James denying it all on Richard and Judy?

Yeah, she did - one of her rambling columns about SEX!!!!! - because everything is about that as far as Dr Pammie is concerned. It was cringey worthy in the extreme, something about her being jealous of Ola, and imagining them having sex - don't blame James in the slightest, first opportunity he got he cut off all contact.
