South Korea's most famous girlband, with 9 members and popular recognition not only in their home country but also around Asia, has just released its third album. 'The Boys' will be released not only in Asia, but worldwide.

Tonight the single 'The Boys' is climbing the charts, already at around #60 in the Swedish iTunes charts.

They've recorded an English and Korean version of the song, heres the English. The song kicks in around 1:10.

Question is, can Girls Generation make it in the West? In Europe or the US?

^ I heard they're already in the top 1000 on US iTunes!

I've heard a few songs of them over the past year or so. I really like Run Devil Run. It was written by Ke$ha apparently.

I have huge hopes to one day see KPop acts storm the charts in the west but I don't think that day has come just yet. SNSD will be successful but I don't think that will mean they will be competitive on the main singles/albums charts of the big western markets (US & UK) which I guess in a way shows just how irrelevant those charts are becoming.

They will definitely do well on the iTunes charts though and they will sell out any live performances they have because their fanbase is crazy like that. I see them easily making it into the iTunes Top 10 (maybe even Top 5 though that may just be my KPop loving heart talking).

I like the single & I'm looking forward to getting the record in my hand next week (if the international mail system will cooperate) and really giving it a listen. This has been a fantastic comeback season so far with Brown Eyed Girls, Tablo, UKiss & now SNSD!

I don't think their music can crack any of the major markets, especially the US.It's urban pop music if you simplify it, but something about it's very different to most of the big worldwide hits.In all honesty, the song has some amazing elements, but it sounds a bit messy with the beat changes and the long intro Still, it's very enjoyable and catchy and of course the video is pretty amazing

I don't really like the new song but I love all their other stuff so still excited for the new album.

Not sure how they'll do in mainstream terms but I think they'll be very successful in online terms - with SMTown in Paris/LA/New York there's obviously a market for them!

Ke$ha also sung the English demo. I'm not a big Girls' Generation fan but I do like Run Devil Run. The Boys sounds promising.

Good luck to them!
