Why on earth would you get rid of Pauline and not Juley?

Pauline Fowler, despite her being a miserable whinging character is an integral part of the show and it's history. Her best friend is Dot, Martin is her son, Sonia her daughter-in-law. Vicky & Chloe her grandaughter She has vital connections and history to characters like Den & Sharon & Pat & Peggy so I ask you again, why get rid of her?

Yes, and when they TRY to be funny (Micky - Mo - ladders/Tariq - snakes  ) they should either do it well, or not do it at all. Humour obviously strikes people in different ways, but there weren't many of us who have found Micky or Juley or the Ferreiras a chortle-fest during their attempts at comedy.

It just seems to me EE are trying everything, to see if it works (gangsters, arson, kidney transplants, comedy pole dancers with snakes) but the reason it often DOESN'T (IMO) work, is that the scriptwriting and acting are too feeble.

And yes, Pauline's a miserable goat, but she is part of the fabric and history of the show.

Pauline Fowler the Growler is like dead wood! She has been there far too long and she never gets any good storylines- all she does is moan about Martin- also Pat should go. The only old people they should keep are Jim and Dot, Patrick and Yolande- at least Jim and Patrick get up to Mischief and make me laugh!

But let's face it- Eastenders is upposed to reflect real life and NO-ONE's life is as miserable as some of the past story lines! Most people have at least one funny thing happen to them a week!

Leaving aside their efforts at comedy are as funny as toothache ...
I don't know if EE is 'supposed to' reflect real life? I do think it should make some effort in that respect, but I don't know if it ever has really (as you say, too much of the stalkers, rapists, arson, shootings, cardboard dragons etc) ... but Micky's betting scams and Juley's seduction technique don't really remedy that for me
