An amazing video
I love the commentry at the start A lot is going on and it gives me a slight ray of light vibe in that sense I really really love it It's her best video since S&M, but creatively her best video since the Rated R era. |

I like it as it really wasn't what I was expecting however it's just a Skins version of Teenage Dream.

Amazing. Man Down, and now this, two of her best videos ever and two of the best this year. I can't wait to hear what the Parents Television Council have to say about this one though.

Why doesnt she just get her fanny flaps out and be done with it!
What she gonna say to her kids when she has them. Come and watch Mummy on the tv smoking, taking drugs, spouting filth and getting next to naked in her videos, if people "look up" to stars like Rihanna and Lady Gaga then theres something seriously wrong, i remember when chart music was fun. |

OK, positive aspects first.I understand the image she's going for."The unconventional, dark, carefree, free spirit popstar".Her entire profile for this era is a mixture of 'Rated R' and 'Loud', which, in theory, I LOVE.Also, the video is not generic and common. It stands out, which is a good thing
Now, this video is below average, a disappointment. She had some AMAZING sets, AMAZING camera angles, AMAZING outfits and she looked stunning, but the outcome is an uneventhful, rushed and sloppy mess ![]() Great editing, brilliant ideas, but behind the smoke and mirrors there is no real energy imo.I don't feel the rather positive vibe that the song gave me when it premiered.Maybe I can't get into the video just because I'm not really fond of the song, but I think it's not a good clip

Because the song is so european, it's great she did the song over here for it
I really get what the sound of the Talk era could be about through the video I don't think we have a shitty generic dance album on our hands. |

Absolutely love it. So much better than I was expecting. It is actually quite arty. Brilliant.
I would, however, like a nice glamourous video for the next single (whilst obviously keeping within the 'ghetto' parameters) |

Personally I really like the video, and it has swayed me into liking the song which really had me on the fence as I couldn't decide if I liked or disliked it since it's premiere.
I'm a big Skins fan, and I got a real vibe of the series here. Some of the imagery is stunning and creative, but... ...Rihanna, whether she likes it or not, is mainstream. The whole drug/alcohol/violence aspect makes me feel uncomfortable that kids and impressionabe teens will see it. I know she has never wanted to be a role model, but nobody asks permission from their role models, they'll just follow. Skins was a niche market really, around 1 million or so people watched a week, This'll be seen by 100's of millions worldwide. In summary. I love the video, it conveys the songs theme and has brought life to it, but I worry a little bit about it's influence.

She's definitely putting focus on UK/Europe with this. I had a feeling she was considering the song itself, but the video compliments and enhances it to that trippy Skins-esque Euro grunge glamour. Will be interesting to see how the US responds.
I like the video. She gave a meaningless, generic song a soul and a narrative. There are some great shots in there and the overall vibe is very stylised and different, which is a good effort because it could have just been a half assed mess. It does make me like the song a bit more now, but it's a shame that that is the weakness of the end product; the actual music the video is visualising. I think that's what stops it elevating from good to excellent, in my eyes. It's style over substance. She's also inevitably going to get into trouble - and knowingly so, she's going for the "rebel without a cause" schtick this era it seems - for all the semi-glamorised drug/drink/sex content. I think she's treading a thin line between being provocative and irresponsible, that will either result in burning out or snapping back to conforming. |
