Great episode, and it feels like they're progressing the story. I don't know why everyone's so desperate for the mother to appear, I don't want it to end! And poor old Ted, he's been in love with Robin for so long

The series finale is a two parter, do you reckon they'll air them combined or separately?

This. I mean the kids have been sitting there listening to him going on about Aunt Robin for about six years now!

I hope now they'll start moving on instead of yo-yoing back and forth with Ted-Robin-Barney over and over.

Actually it's supposed to be in one short inning - for example at the start of season 2 the kids say "you've been going on for like, a year".

In real life Future Ted won't have been talking for six years, he'll have been talking or maybe 30 minutes or an hour or so.

i read somewhere they've filmed the end scene with teds kids at start of season 2 so the actors didnt look any older once the series came to its end, so i guess he'll of been boring them with stories for one evening or so on their time

Yeah, there was an interview at the end of Season 4 where they said they shot something for the end around the time they'd filmed Season 2.

You're right, that would be perfect, but I've recently read that Bays & Carter have written two endings, one will conclude with Season 8, another will lead to, and conclude with, Season 9. As much as I'd like 10 seasons, I don't think it's too likely.

Seeing as CBS renewed the show for two more seasons at the end of season 6, I don't think they would particularly mind a season 9. I know I wouldn't.

I don't know about ten seasons though. The show is suffering the same thing as Friends did - the actors becoming household names and wanting to do more movie roles and other jobs.

You make a good point. I think only Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan are able to break this mould, having been in a number of films/shows. Famously, when Cobie Smulders appeared on-screen for The Avengers, a number of people said "hey - that's Robin from How I Met Your Mother"

Haha yeah - that's what I said when I went to see that with my friends!

Friends' last season had to be shortened to 18 episodes - that's nearly half a normal season of maybe 24 episodes - because the actor's wanted to do more movie roles.

Jason Segel's had a lot of roles (primarily because he writes them) and I don't think anyone commented "that's Marshal from How I Met Your Mother")

I've noticed that, with his latest set of films, such as the 5 Year Engagement or Jeff Who Lives At Home. I also noticed it when I Love You Man and Bad Teacher came out.

I'm the opposite. Whenever I see the two kids, I'm thinking, "That's Nikita's friend, Alex."

Has Josh Radnor done anything else other than HIMYM since he started? All the others I've seen in various films or tv shows over the last few years but not Josh.

He's written and directed 'Happythankyoumoreplease' and Liberal Arts, the later of which stars Radnor and Zac Effron, and is set for UK release on October 5th.

That's because he has more of a presence on screen than Cobie Smulders, the same with Alyson Hannigan who was obviously known for the American Pie movies before HIMYM and Neil Patrick Harris was known for being Doogie Howser, in fact HIMYM references Doogie Howser a few times.

However since Cobie Smulders and Josh Radnor got their big break from HIMYM and haven't starred in much else since, they get mentioned as being so and so from HIMYM.

I agree. Jason Segel's appeared in a number of films, Alyson Hannigan is most famously recognised as Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Michelle from American Pie and of course NPH was Doogie Howser; he also appeared in several films such as Starship Troopers.

This comes across as a bit mean... that was unintended.

Yeah, as my post was also an extension of what I wrote above.

No worries. I don't take offence easily.
