i only got to 35secs and there was already some shit by Aqua, My heart will go on by Celine Dion and the terrible All around the world by Oasis
face it, the charts have always been 90% shit..there was no golden age |

No such thing as good and bad. Just what you like or don't. Can't imagine there was EVER a top 40 where someone has loved every song.

There was more variety that's for sure that year and songs that where attracting a broader age range.
1978 and 1979 both have some very strong number one singles reaching number, with a few cheesy bits thrown in. 1984 had the strongest run of number hits that I had personally can ever remember-although there where a couple of weak links as well. Sales in 1979 and 1984 where huge overall( 6 songs selling a million plus alone in 1984 and at least 3 in 1979-they can only dream of those days now) |

Every year has good an bad in its charts.
In 20 years someone will start a thread on here saying "Remember 2011 when all the #1s were brilliant", and then some kid will go "lol. Someone Like You and Swagger Jagger suck!". |
