Free Kindle Books

..... just to clarify the closed thread:

1. Project Gutenberg, of course.

2. Web archive, texts. This also has a mobi download option. However, it's done on the fly, and not proof read! But result is usually readable.

(If no mobi option offered, you can click on "HTTP", and download the plain txt version.

3. Kindle store. Public domain, and books sold for £0.0 via your Amazon account!

If you have a DIRECT link to a pdf file - ie, the URL ends in .pdf - then, you can enter that URL into an online file converter website - there's quite a few - and the resulting mobi file can be downloaded directly onto your Kindle.

Works best for plain text PDF sources, conversions of more complex stuff can be "messy".

There's also Project Gutenberg Australia and Canada, both have books not on the USA site, but annoyingly, they can't be downloaded directly on a Kindle! If you download the txt file, it just appears as a temporary web page, not a stored book!
