I bought the iPhone 4S yesterday (my first iPhone) and whilst playing around with it I realised the battery is worse than what I expected it to be. I mean, I played a 30 second youtube video and lost 5% of battery life which is ridiculous.

As a result of poor battery I'm considering buying an iPhone case which includes an in-built battery. However, none of these products have any decent reviews and as such I'm not sure if they are worth the money or just some expensive gimmick.

Has anyone ever bought a case which includes a battery and does it make a big difference to the iPhone battery? Any links would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt all you did was play a 30second clip.

You need to look through the settings. Things like bluetooth are on by default. If you don't need that, turn it off. Screen brightness can make a difference. Wifi and 3G on all the time, mail checking on a regular basis. There are lots of things you can do to give you more battery life. All of the big screen smartphones have similar battery life though. Those screens take a lot of juice to run in full colour.
