Famously said she hated artists that scammed their fans by making them buy the same album twice. I think her first one was released twice too so it's a certainty that come Christmas lots of grannies will be getting doublers at least.

Maybe I'll be proved wrong.

Lady Gaga seems like a saint when you compare her campaign to all the lies from the Adele camp.

I don't think 19 got a re-release.

It was just the use of 'Make You Feel My Love' on X Factor which brought the album back into the top of the charts after going off.

I doubt 21 will be re-released tbh.

But at the same time, Adele was wrong when she said that. Re-releasing albums isn't scamming people at all, and nobody is forced to buy the same album twice.

Some artists say they're against re-releases just to look good tbh. Rihanna recently did the same, saying she's not re-releasing Loud.

Well 19 wasn't re-released and 21 doesn't seem to have any plans to have a re-release

So have all these 'lies from the Adele camp.' just lies made up in your head?

Or do you have some links to prove the above?

Oh Yes it was. I have the 19 2CD reissue in my record collection:

As you are with pretty much all your threads. If you're going to keep up with the anti-Adele threads, at least post something credible which isn't going to get debunked in the first reply.

That's not really a re-issue, it's a deluxe edition. Most major label albums have them released alongside the standard release. A reissue is more in the vain of Bright Lights by Ellie Goulding or Between Two Lungs by Florence + The Machine.

EDIT: Appears I was wrong about the Deluxe edition not being a reissue, it wasn't released alongside 19's initial release.

Yes, '19' was definitely re-released. I think we'd better get the paramedics on alert for jack soon because the strong rumour is that XL will be releasing a live DVD/CD at the end of November. To be fair, according to Adele, XL asked her if she wanted '19' re-releasing and she said no but they did it anyway. Who knows the truth of the matter? I won't buy a re-release on principle from any artist, Adele included. May still buy the Live DVD/CD though as she's better live anyway.

PS It's clear that '21' has no need of a re-release but that probably won't stop the record company releasing one at some stage. Hope I'm wrong.

PS Eric_Blob - how would Rihanna manage to fit a re-release in when she seems to release a new album every 6 months?

It appears XL are releasing a Live DVD of her in concert on November 29th.

The speculation seems to be whether a joint CD/DVD package will be released the same day for the lucrative Xmas market.

This sort of explains why I don't understand the Adele fans. All the posts in this thread prove that my assertions are right but you've just decided to ignore all that. Think I prefer my voices to yours.

I knew this would happen
Can't wait

I hope Hidin my heart makes the re-release. I never got a chance to get the limited edition from HMV with it on.

She releases an album every 12 months, more like.

She re-released Good Girl Gone Bad (the album with Umbrella, Shut Up and Drive, Take a Bow, etc.) in 2008, so she had a 2-year gap between albums then.

She did it before, but Rihanna and Adele both know that if they criticize album re-releases it puts them in favour with the public. It's the cool thing for pop stars to do at the moment.

Surely as Adele doesn't own the rights to her own music she has no say whether it's re-issued or not?

It depends what sort of re-release it is. If it a re-release with new material which she will be promoting, then she does have a say. If it's a re-release like 19's re-release where it was a second disc of a live set she did, she may not have a say.

She had a say in the re-release of '19' - she said no so they ignored her, lol. I would like to know how many albums she has left on her XL contract, if the contract is getting near its end maybe they will not want to antagonise her (can you imagine how many major labels would be bidding for her signature??).

She's already signed up with Columbia (Sony sub-label) (especially in the USA)

http://newly-signed-to-columbia-records-19-year-old-uk-soul-sensation-adele-coming-to-america-in-support-of-stateside-release-of-1-uk-chart-topping-debut-album

Indie credibility goes out of the window

I'm sure Adele would have major problems releasing herself from her Sony obligations (the way Major labels draw up their contracts).A bidding war for Adele is very unlikely I think.

It was interesting to hear that XL will not be doing any joint ventures with Major labels in future.I'm sure this is due to the over bearing pressure Columbia / Sony are putting on them as far as Adele is concerned - XL are probably one of the most commercially motivated independant labels to start with anyway.

PS There are only 3 & a bit Major labels left anyway

Repackaging is normally a record label thing, not sure if Adele has enough clump at her record company to have a say in what happens in this matter.

I'm sure we've had this convo before I can't be arsed anymore as no matter what I say you will come back with a 2,000 word essay and then I will respond with a 175 word essay, then you will come back with a 3,000 word essay in reply and before I know it it will be 3am. I'm up at 6 in the morning so I'm not even getting into it. You win. Happy?

Probably not much of a say any more (since she has become so commercially successful).

Her expensive fat arse (sorry, that is being fattist isn't it ) are owned by the her music rights holders / music release controllers now (however that is exactly arranged ).

TBH, you do yourself no favours with this sort of comment, especially when you are keen to promote yourself as the thinking man's DS contributor . You're actually no better than 'bitter jack soon'. Sleep tight.

There is no arguement anyway.Columbia vertially run the show as far as her American releases go at the moment, anyway. They are the one's promoting her State's side (even though XL are still owners of her World Wide rights). As that is the bigger market though, Columbia are vertially calling the shots.
Adele is just a piece of meat to be traded as far as these 2 joint venture labels are concerned.
