Just heard on BBC One that crappy Steps have broken up, they said after five years together it was time to go their seperate ways.

Well WHAT A SUPRISE.

Whenevr a shite group brings out a Greates Hits album they seem to split up!

Take Five for example.........

and now Steps....

Im so glad we dont have to put up with anymore crappy songs from them!

Just like SClub7 where you only hear Jo and Bradley in that Don't Stop Movin' and only really Jo in every other record.

Don't forget Take That split after their greatest hits.

Claire should go solo! She has a great voice. At least we won't have to put up with that infurating 'H' idiot anymore.

Yeah, she is probably the only one who can actually sing properly. Lisa cant, Faye cant, and the two lads? Well, i dont really have to say a thing do I? H is INFURIATING and is such an arse. I wont be sorry to see the back of him!

Merry Xmas.

I heard it on the news. My Christmas just got better. We won't have to put up with those crappy cover versions anymore. I hope H doesn't try and start to go solo, I can't stand him. The girls were all right.

Is it really such good news? They said they want to persue solo careers so now instead of 1 crap act you are going to have 5 crap acts!!!!

Ooh - get the snobby music purists who like the real classy stuff like "Limp" Bizkit and Wheatus
I refer you to HEARTBEAT, DEEPER SHADE OF BLUE and ONE FOR SORROW- without doubt three of the finest pure pop songs of the late 90's
Agree that H is a complete twathead though.

I feel a little bit sorry for Steps actually. Having read the interview in today's Sun newspaper, they have decided to quit because they are sick of being labelled 'Naff', but if they were so naff then how come they consistently get voted the best live act year in year out. I'm not saying I'm a massive fan, some of their songs were good ones, shame that the majority were covers, but on the whole I used to quite like them. H was/still is a bit on the daft side though, I agree with earlier comments. I wish them well in their solo careers though I don't see any of them going very far IMO.

Majority????!!!?
Between November 1997 and December 2001, Steps released 21 singles (Double A-Sides counting as 2), and out of those 21 songs only 5 were covers. Hardly a majority.

The 5 were
Last Thing on my Mind
Tragedy
I Know Him so Well
Better the devil you Know
Chain Reaction

and all 5 were terrible. i was happy when i heard that they are breaking up but as pointed out by RichardS there will be 5 solo careers coming from this good news

Who originally sang 'Last Thing On My Mind' ? I thought Peter Waterman wrote that?

BTW the tradegy cover was excellet - better than the original. The video was great too.

Faye and Lisa will continue the FHM/Maxim shoots that Steps are better at.

Claire has a chance, then again Martine McCutcheon can even sell enough to get to no.1

I would bet anything that Claire makes a good go of it, H becomes a presenter on a new Sky gay channel (but not for long as he is rejected as naff by the gay community in May 2002) Lee drifts into obscurity re-emerging in 2010 as the comeback group Steps Revisited with him and 4 newcomers, Faye becomes a porn star and the others I don't know the name of so they will of course vanish into obscurity.

Shame though, they did good cheesy music, obviously worked hard and I hope they managed to reap financial benefits. I also hope that the split was not amicable as the gossip could entertain us for months (fear it was though).

I think he did write it, but he wrote it for Bananarama. Their version only got to number 71 in 1992.

Thankfully I doubt that we will ever hear any solo projects from this lot again.Every pop band claims they will all forge solo carreers when they leave-a few actually try to keep this promise. But when you think about it the only boyband castoffs to make it big have been Robbie Williams and Ronan Keating. And even Keatings solo carreer is suffering.I suppose when you consider that the Spice Girls are disbanded in all but name you could add Geri Halliwell to the list of solo successes. But when you think about it she only got around 1 or 2 number 1s in the past 4 or 5 years.Anyway, the above mentioned acts are all shite and so dosent really have implications for fans of real music.
P.S-Didnt that lad from steps with the odd looking blonde hair look a right nobhead?Just an opinion Also,i notice they stayed together long enough to get the cash from the sky box office concert

i read somewhere that 2 of them may be going into television, one getting her brothers band going, another getting her wedding together and the other i don't know

I heard this "mother" on the radio up here (Newcastle) this morning complaining how Steps are "pathetic ruining everybody’s Christmas announcing that their splitting up on Boxing Day"

It would only be a Geordie mother that would call up a radio station and make a Pratt of herself to a million people. I mean she's only pissed that she had to stop her 7 year old daughter crying her eyes out over Christmas and the fact she spent £15 buying a “Steps Gold Album”
She’s the pathetic one of you ask me.

Anyway thought I’d share that with you! Made me laugh anyway

Kind Regards
Mc
