What other times/days have the soaps been on in the past?
Have the soaps ever been on earlier or later or moved?
So has Emmerdale always been on at 7PM and has Corrie always at 7:30PM? Has EE always been on the time and days it is? |

Coronation Street has always been at 7.30. It used to only be on Mondays and Wednesday. Eastenders used to be on just Tuesdays and Thursdays, there has always been a Sunday omnibus. Emmerdale used to be on every week day (Ithink) at about 1.30.

Emmerdale on every weekday? It was always a primetime soap wasn't it, and never on THAT often??
About ten years ago I remember it was: Eastenders on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30. I can't remember whether the 8pm Friday or Monday episode came next.. Emmerdale was on at 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Corrie at 7.30 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. |

Emmerdale started off as a day time soap. It was some years before it moved to prime time. It was known as Emmerdale Farm then and focussed more on the farms rather than the village. I can't remember how long ago it switched to prime time, but I'm sure someone else will remember. I'm not certain about how many times a week it was on then.
Lunchtime on ITV used to be very good for soaps. There was Emmerdale Farm, Sons and Daughters, Young Doctors, The Cedar Tree and the Sullivans. Can anyone remember any more from that time? |

Emmerdale Farm started out in October 1972, by airing two episodes every week in a lunch time slot - what was the slot, 1PM ???

Okay, it apparently moved to primetime in 1989 (which of course coincided with the name change), and I know it was only a regional soap for a while as well.
Can't find anything about it being on 5 days a week though. When it moved to primetime it was on at 6.30pm on two days, then moved to 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday. |

The Friday EE episode was introduced fairly recently, way before the Monday one.

I think at the very beginning "Corrie" was on a Friday or a Sunday (one or other) which shocked me as I could only ever remember it on Mondays and Wednesdays. G |

I think. "Eastenders" started out in 7pm slot, as did "Eldorado". G |
