Very telling insight into the world of apple and those who dare challenge them, demonstrates how worried they are.

As important as Steve Jobs was to the tech industry, this highlights one of his biggest flaws.

The fact that, if he was able to, he was willing to spend all of the money Apple had to try and take down a fair competitor, rather than innovating further to beat them in the market place, is ridiculous.

According to extracts of Mr Isaacson's book, obtained by the Associated Press, Mr Jobs said: "I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this."

He is also quoted as saying: "I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong."

Apple fans must go out and destroy any Android phone they see and and shop that sells them! They are the work of Satan (Google)

Monopolists hate competition

Now the Messiah has left directions from beyond will we see apple acolytes burning android phones in the street.

This really does confirm everything that's always been suspected about apple.

It's merely hype for the biography... I'm quite sickened by it. As usual it's designed to make us talk about the issue, but really, it's just publicity and $$$

Unlike Android users who choose to flame the iphone and Apple products at every oppotunity?

This is the reason that I would think twice about buying another apple product. I have no problem with the iPhone or iPad and think they are excellent bits of kit.
However, Their diversification into the legal field has left a sour taste and it's just another company to add to the 'do not buy from' list.....

You say this, but while we speak, there is another topic being discussed that was posted recently and in the OP it suggests that Android phones are nothing but budget copies of the iPhone.

Who is flaming who here?

Well I'd rather wait for the detail in the book. Perhaps Steve knew something we don't about ideas taken from Apple by the guy who went to Google. Perhaps he knew more about the history of Android development than we do.

Perhaps, but Apple/Steve have always claimed other platforms (not only phone platforms, but Windows too) are copying them...at first I thought it was just good marketing. Now it seems like borderline paranoia.

But yes, we will see what it says in the book.

Err I'm sorry Steve, but Android is NOTHING like IOS. It's waaaaaaaaaaaay more advanced, a true OS for a smartphone, which had multitasking years ago! and a host of other features which Apple didn't have. P*ss off Steve. You used your last dying breath to rip off android features such as cloud and facebook integration. (which Android has had for ages) Not to mention your pull down notification center, which again, had been around on Android from the start. I had it on the HTC Hero going back a few years.

Android is your daddy, and was showing just what a smartphone OS should be like. Your last product Iphone 4S underwhelmed many in the tech world. So did you achieve your mission in destroying Android? You didn't even put a scratch in it mate.

That's nothing to do with Android. That's Samsung's own skinning on top of the Android OS. Like what HTC does with it's phones. Android is not responsible for creating Touchwiz, which is what is used on samsung phones.

Other than they are both mobile phones? I notice also the screenshots on the phones have been deliberately chosen to increase the similarity. Using the homescreen of both (a more natural choice) wouldn't have made them look as similar though.

But what, they're both touchscreen smartphones, once you've wacked a big screen on the front how much can you do with the cm of plastic around it that is 'original'.

Maybe you were expecting the Samsung to be hexagonal in shape and use wood instead of glass for the screen or something

That's not real Android. And that image is misleading. If the image compared the iPhone home screen with the Galaxy S homescreen and not with the Galaxy S app drawer then it would be a different story.

Pure stock Android as featured on the Nexus devices and other select Android phones looks NOTHING at all like iOS. Even now at version 4.0 there is a marked different between the two.

Exactly, I get sick of all these images from an app drawer using classic icons. I'm surpised no one has installed an iOS theme (because on Andorid you're trusted to actually change what it looks like - you hear that Apple?) and taken a picture of it and claimed 'OMG they are copying Apple!!!!'.

These smartphone wars don't half make me laugh.

Android users are so quick to state the fanboy putdown but they then parade about on here like their android phone is the child who Steve jobs bullied at school. It's embarrassing.

Yes you like android, good. Be happy and discuss the good things, don't use every opportunity to bring down a product and company you dislike. For something you lot hate so much you certainly spend a hell of a long time talking about it!!

What a load of rubbish. You act as if you are neutral with that opening line, and then post a load of slanted rubbish.

Apple users take swipes at Android at every opportunity. They just couldn't help themselves during the iPhone 4S keynote...'oh I don't know what Android users are doing between camera shots, having a cup of coffee?'...that was an unnecessary comment and the same stuff comes out of iOS users against Android as well...

At least Google was understated enough to take a subtle swipe at Apple without making everyone realise what they are doing (the demo of the Galaxy Nexus' instant camera shots)...

It's funny how everyone likes to act as if Android users are just jealous and bitter, but really, Apple users are as bad if not worse. It's almost as if they regret their purchases and are trying to justify it by attacking a better product.

Is that like your departed leader devoting his dying breath to the destruction of a competitor then?

My point in thread was to illustrate how dangerous a company apple is. It is no longer a tech company it sees itself as some form of cult whose mission is to destroy all desenters.

Just because Android is apparently more advanced the ios, that does not rule out fowl play and copying in the early stages of developement. There is nothing to say that Apple didn't come up with something exactly the same as android in their developement stages but decided to can it for the more user friendly and universal appear of IOS.

Apple have always strived to have the "best" user experience/products. Not sell the most or have the fastest performance. If that means stripping out features to make it run better and accesible across products, then why wouldn't you take that business path.

I don't agree with the attidude of Steve Jobs to destroy Android as that would be no good for the consumer and freedom of choice. Without competitors producing more advanced products, you have no reason to innovate yourself if you remove all competition. There is clearly room for all phone makers and operating systems.
