Thats very true , Creep De Burgh was only there to promote his album and BBC bloody let him . I have never seen such a unanimous dislike for someone on ITT like the little creep has sparked on DS !!! He even made Ann seem tolerable , which is no mean task ., .
Not even a little squeek of support from a WUM have I seen !!!!

Well you turned up for your friend, rolled your eyes and turned some words around, but made no attempt to restore your friends credibility by putting forward any reasonable defence for his preconceived prejudices against Ann Widdecombe who was clearly very good in her role as a panalist on ITT, and also looked stunning with her new slimline glam image.

I'll go so far as to say she was improved by the third guest to the extent that she was not the most objectionable person on the show. She was still objectionable though.”

That's a far better way of putting it, consider my cap doffed in your direction

Look on the bright side, Abba - if he gets his wish to dance in a future series, he will bear all the ignominy of being voted off first, such will be the universal horror at his inclusion. See? a little squeak of support has slipped through my homicidal thoughts about Creep De Bleurgh.

Sorry, DJ - Widdy was almost a beacon of sanity next to the witless outpourings of he-who-has-a-new-CD-to-promote. Which is pretty good going for somebody so barking mad...

Oh, and I'll happily sign up to any campaign to have Tom Ellis on Strictly.

Bearing in mind that Chris De Bergh had the audacity to sit on the panel without having watched the show, Ann was remarkably polite and did not but in once despite her obvious superior knowledge about the show, she was also very self depreciating about her own dancing ability.

I will join that campaign !! And I am looking at the bright side now that I found an ignore button .Its somehow liberating and good for the soul to see a blank space !!!

Sorry, been away. Ooh, the thread has legs.

Previously they've had judges and professionals on the panel. They've not had someone who clearly didn't want to dance, pronouncing on dances she'd not even "learnt".

Chris was there (ostensibly) to talk about music - flog his record, actually. Tom Ellis was there as "a fan" presumably.

My nan knows more about dancing than Ann bloody Widdecombe, and my nan's been dead for 15 years.

Spoiler
Yes, dead nan reference

And whilst I share the universal loathing for De Burgh, can people not start their own thread for that?

Whilst we're on the topic of Widdicombe, did I mention that I really really dislike her?

I wouldn't mind Widdy so much. Homophobia and the Blue Swastika I could just about put up with, what got me was the fact she wouldn't join in the spirit of the thing and do sexy moves or put on sexy frocks (despite no doubt this way saving me £££ on carpet cleaning bills)

Now that your preconceived prejudices about Ann have resulted in lost credibility, a slight flounce was perhaps predictable, Chris De Bergh was on the panel interacting with Ann Widdicombe on ITT after all, and apparently I missed her pulling away from a cuddle from Mr De Bergh, I wonder if there are any links to footage of his rejection by Ann.

What got me was the fact that she refused to learn to dance, based on her loony personal beliefs.

Beliefs which obviously did not preclude hypocrisy, as she took the money but did not do the job she committed to doing in exchange.

I agree totally. Why agree to go on the show when you know the costumes are skimpy and some of the dances a bit raunchy? As you say, total hypocrisy. Hideous woman.

how do you know it wasn't written in her contract that she would not do a certain things? Perhaps you should blame those who signed her up in the first place. They want a joke act they get one.

It was, indeed, she made a point of noting that, endlessly.

However, there's a world of difference between "not doing overtly sexual moves", and "not wanting to learn an entire set of dances because it offends my nutty sense of morality".

Spoiler
(And yes, frankly, I can die happy not ever having seen Ann Widdecombe attempt overtly sexual moves.

There is not a single dance - no, not even Rumba - which has to be "sexy" to be done well. And her refusal to understand - or to even try to understand - that concept offends me.

But the point is, if she breached her contract, surely the producers could expose her? I am sure it was the producers who went along with it, and I think they are the ones to be blamed, because they allowed her to get away with murder, so to speak...

Legally, I'm sure she didn't breach her contract. Morally, however - and, funnily enough, she seems to be quite bit on the Moral Thing with other people - she did.

So to clarify, her behaviour last year in that respect offended me. But I don't believe she broke the terms of her legal contract.

Isn't it just?

The words "This message is hidden because <numpty> is on your ignore list." are just, somehow, just so relaxing.

I can definitely recommend using the Ignore button.

I would have turned it off but Tom Ellis seemed to know his stuff. He grew in my estimation.

I didn't need to restore a credibility that was not lacking in the first place.

It is very clear you have the hots for Anne W, but do you need to share your colourful fantasies about her on quite such a regular basis? Especially as she is last year's chip paper.

Blimey. Presumably it is a part of your personal beliefs that there is only one way to dance certain dances. Does that make you more narrow minded than her?

I think actually doing the steps is a good starting point, but she seemed reluctant to even do that. It is clear to a lot of people that she just wasn't prepared to do the dances properly or practice. Totally ludicrous!
