Surely her time is up, struggling to think of a more unnatural presenter on any programme let alone a flagship one.

Her opening salvo with Bruce (who's obviously awful as well) is nauseating and uncomfortable to watch and then before we know it we're off to see the "coppples"

Is that Hardy and Brook I spy behind red button? They'll do, sheesh , anyone but these two.

Edit - Sod that, I've just noticed Vernon on All Star FF , trying to flog a dead horse there, get Tess on there and get Vernon on this Strictly. He's a bit of a gimp but have to admit he can present.

Listen to hear her say "judges" and "couples"

Broad Lancashire.

Then hear her say "vote" in the same sentence.

BBC English.

She's a fraud. If she were true to her roots it would come out "vaught."

The now and again accent is pure affectation.

Yeah....I have no problem with Stockport lingo (love it in fact) but she picks and chooses. Cupples then vowte...most odd. And Tess is gorgeous so why does she look a fright? And she never had tact but she is sub-zero in tact these days.

She's like a bonkers relative at a wedding. Imagine her and Nancy out at night!

Plenty of people have a mixture of influences on their way of speaking but it does not prove they are a "fraud". I am sure we here people with London accents who say some words in BBC English.

She makes a pleasant change from all the others with London and South East accents the we get all the time.

You're welcome to your opinion, it won't change mine. I commented on it as it was so noticeable.
Her husband's the same. They probably think it makes them a bit different.

I don't mind Tess - at least she appears to be having a laugh with the pros and celebs up on the balcony. Bruce, on the other hand, often seems as if he's totally unaware of what's going on around him.

Trouble with Tess is she turns up on a Saturday and does a 'paint by numbers' performance. She doesn't care about the couples, knows nothing about them, only what she is told by the producers or the autocue which is why she drops clangers.Bet she doesn't watch ITT either.

You have hit the nail on the head...neither Tess nor Bruce seem to know the show or care and just listen to producers. Compare them to Zoe and Claudia who clearly love the show....

I dont love her but I like her with Bruce on strictly but if she was to say decide to leave I would love Claudia to replace her she is more natural but I think Tess does a decent job

I don't find her offensive at all and am baffled by the flack she gets here. I'm not much of a fan either, but she does a good enough job and has an affable TV persona.

Isn't she from Derbyshire?

Yes.

Though I wouldn't mind Emma Forbes taking over.

I guess she's forgotten from where she's from, I've lived in the North-West for decades and have worked in several areas of North Manchester and to me, her "northern vowel sounds" could be Oldham, Bolton, or any of those North Manchester areas. When it's an affected pronunciation of just a few words, it's difficult to pin down exactly from where. Wherever it is, it sounds so false.

It's a bit harsh to over-criticise her actual performance. She's charged with moving the show along, if it were left to Bruce, it'd grind to a halt.
So she's reading the auto-cue and there's probably the director bangin' on in her ear-piece at the same time.
But I agree she's not a natural presenter and is often rubbish at ad-libbing.

Am not a big Tess fan but think she does keep it on track and cue Brucey in -it is a bit clinical but she is competent enough

Am starting to prefer Tess to Bruce. Not as cringe-worthy to me as those awful jokes he makes (and yes I know they're written for him, but they do rehearse so if he really didn't like them he has enough clout to say no)

Check the credits at the end to see who writes the jokes and I think you'll find Bruce writes his own jokes - which might explain why they're so bad!

Mea Culpa! Never bothered to look at the credits. Seem to remember on ITT a couple of weeks back Zoe walking backstage to the studio and pointing out someone who was writing stuff for the tele-prompter... but if he really writes that kaka himself than it's worse than I thought

Actually this week in the credits there were three people listed as responsible for the "script." Bruce was only mentioned as a host.

In an interview in today's Mail
Quote:
“‘From Wednesday I’ll work with the script editor and when I get to the studios on the Friday there’ll be a script meeting to go through the whole show. Then we’ll all vote on which jokes we like, and try out the best in the dress rehearsal.’”

Suggests that perhaps the jokes are more of a combined effort than solely written by him.

Strikes me that Tess has looked ill-at-ease this series for whatever reason. She lends all the confidence of the Titanic.

I've not read so much tosh in a long time!

I was born in north Lancashire, now Cumbria, worked in Manchester and lived in Australia for a while. According to friends and family my accent is now a hilarious mix of all three.
Absolutely no-one can say where I'm from except somewhere in the North West via Sydney

I love Tess - all she has to do is present, she's not going for Mastermind or Miss UK. I think she does it very well and I'd rather have her than a few others I can think of!

Bruce doesn't write his own jokes! You can tell from when he does ad libs, and half the time he can't quite read the jokes to deliver them properly.

Tess is unbearable and clearly doesn't care about the dancing or have an interest, bring in Zoe or Claudia!
