Paul, (Val's son) Emmerdale
I know he hasn't been in the soap very long but I took an instant liking to the character, i think just what the village needs!
Does anybody know if his character is staying long term? I know he is moving in with Rodney and Nicola, but get the impression its not for long |

I think he's there for the forseeable future. That's the impression I got from the actor when he appeared on GMTV on Monday!

I liked him from the off, definitely hope he's staying. I hope Val comes back permanently too, though no one seems to know. That whole Blackstock family really is fantastic - Diane, Rodney, Val, Paul and Nicola. Just a shame Bernice isn't with them too!

I also like him - he is quite a different character and I think thats good for Emmerdale. I'd also like Val to return too - hope she does!

Great character. Very likeable and seems to interact well with the other actors. I hope Val returns soon too as they both seem to spark off each other.

Yes, he is very different from any other gay characters and is interesting. Wonder how he will interact with Zoe, the tortured lesbian.

I think the Blackstock family is great - I particularly like Diane and Nicola (loved Bernice too).
However I just can't see it with Paul. The idea for the character's okay, but I think he's a totally wooden actor. |

I like Paul. He isn't the normal, over-likeable gay victim character, the kind that gay storylines in soaps usually seem to depend on. He's a character that might actually have sex sometimes, too! Normally such characters seem neutered, or fag-hagged to death, just dependable friends for female characters, legitimate targets for straight male ones!

i think he is wonderful and has created new storylines for Rodney and nicola, as Rodney's were going a bit stale

Yes he is a good character. Amusing and only a bit bitchy when callled for. It will all be down to the scriptwriters. I want to be amused by characters, not annoyed with them ( Steph!!)

I think Paul is fabalous! He is very bitchy and in a way, quite a camp - but all in a very dry, subdude and sophisticated way.
He's great and a great breath of fresh air. On the subject of the Blackstocks, i think they are a great onscreen family. And the actress who plays Dianne, is a sensational actress! She can do it all and is one of the best things about Emmerdale. |
