Does anyone else think that it is quite silly that the solo groups are 16-24 and 25 Plus. Personally I think its insulting that contestants aged 25 to say 35 people who are still young are being lumped in the same group as old fogeys in their 50's 60's even 70's and 80's!! It would be better to have 16 to 35 then 35 plus.

Is this Simon Cowells obsession with teens coming through again. After all he thinks anyone aged over 20 is too old to be a teen idol!

I think the idea is that teens who have little or no experience are different from people over 25 who have some experience under their belt and are probably established singers/performers. Once you get to 35 it doesn't matter that much if you have 10, 20 or 30 years experience - you're not green.

I see your point Minnie but I have to agree with TwinkleToes.

I believe there should be a couple more age groupings such as 16-20, 21-35, 35-50 and 51+.

Also, why are there no age divisions for groups. Maybe because it's deemed that you could have members of a band overlapping the age groups.

If the person in the 25 plus group is really a good singer then they have nothing to worry about being put in the same group as someone who is 50 +.

Yeah, cos 50 year olds are just old fogeys anyway, who would want to vote for them?
