LB told BBC bosses she was leaving in september 6 months ago and that is why Kathleen has got her own storylines ready to come into force when she takes over in two weeks time and that is how the press know about her hit list .

However Ones like Pauline, Den and Jane have not been axed but the rest will be leaving at different times between xmas and early summer.

Where did you hear this?

Are you Yasmin off the BBC boards by the way?

This sounds true to me I can remember people saying she was going in september and we knew that Pauline Jane and den would not be among the ones being axed.

Well it was stated ages ago that Berridge had quit EastEnders but Mal Young publicly stated that she was staying on at Elstree and how she was doing a fantastic job, blah blah blah. Mal Young hasnt' done EastEnders any favours by making such brazen statements when its public knowledge the show was in trouble.

I'm glad Jane and Pauline and Den are staying, I didn't think they would be axed and Jane is a big hit with the viewers.

Will, it's like the Prime Minister saying he has completely confidence in (insert name of disgraced politician) and he will be staying in his job for the foreseeable future -- then said politician 'resigns' a fortnight later.

I suspect a bit of behind the scenes arm-twisting went on.

There's an article in today's Observer about EastEnders. In that the finger of blame is pointed at Mal Young. I know people who have had the misfiortune of working with him, and they all say he's absolutely vile.

Yeah we can really believe the Mirror, we have had Pat leaveing which wasnt true and on their hit list its common sense that she would get rid of 11 of the 14 characters. So I dont bear too much on this 'exclusive' hit list. To me its common sense, im sure if we were asked to come up with a hit list prior to this being in the Mirror we would have the exact same names.

Thanks for that eviledna, will now go and have a look at my copy of the Obs. There was also a lengthy article about EE in the Independent yesterday. Things are definitely bad when you get the Independent on your case

There are actually two articles on EE in the Observer today - here are the online versions for anyone interested, one of them is by Katherine Flett, their TV reviewer.

oh dear oh dear oh dear, two articles in the one rag on a Sunday, they say theres no such thing as bad press, but you would have to be rattled by these two articles aswell as many others of its kind doin the rounds at the moment. Mal Young you plank, sort it out! I still hope Kathleen Hutchison can turn it around. And now the Bookies are getting in on it, odds that this years Crimbo epis will have low ratings. Oh dear, usually the best episodes of EastEnders are at Christmas.
