So it seems that Dr Yusef Khan is EE's current resident baddie. And although his storyline apparently stretches for quite a while, inevitably he will get his comeuppance and either die, leave or go to prison.

He is the latest in a line of recent EE baddie's including Lucas and Archie.

But I really liked Mad May Wright and Stella as female baddies, and its been aaages since weve had a female baddie in EE.

Once Yusef goes and the dust settles I love EE to have a villainous female again. Anyone agree?

But Janines known to have a soft side too. She's no Archie or Lucas.

Agree with OP, time to bring a female baddie in

Nah, I put here in the same league as Phil and Ian, they can all be bad at times, but they have human sides and arent really in the same league as the likes of Archie, Lucas or Yusef.

I think for the most part women don't make good villains (except Ursala in the Little Mermaid, Legend! Although talking Soap Opera Kim Tate is number 1 for me ) I don't know why but I have always found a man villain to be much better.

Maybe if Derek Branning has a wife she could be cast as a baddie?

Linda Bellingham should be cast as a senior female baddie.

Cindy Beale, May Wright and Chrissie Watts were great females baddies but you were also able to sympathise with them which is what made them great characters.

I think Poppy has potential to be a fantastic baddie. Her innocence and friendship with Jodie is only a front in her quest to oust the moons from the square and take over the vic

This. Problem with janine now is how contrived she is; she has storylines that make her the panto baddy then storylines that are supposed to remind us she's human and has depth. Cindy, chrissie and janine 99-04 had actual characterisations that did that; they werent plot driven. Females make bad plot driven baddies IMO.

I thought Mad May was a brilliantly insane baddie!

Suzy Branning could have been a great villain had she not left so quickly. Unlike Janine and Stella she had a good relationship with most of her family and could have involved the Brannings in all sorts of drama.

Some well executed Janine vs New Female Baddy eerily reminiscent of Mean Girl's Regina would be fun to play out, certainly a better attempt at humor then the Jodie-Poppy duo trying and failing to insert TOWIE-comedy. It also has a lot of room for seriousness that EE was famous for, perhaps trying to get Derek Branning on side and put them at loggerheads with Michael/Janine

I agree that Derek's wife should be a difficult character, thorny and hard edged, who could play her, she has two sons and they are her world...

Would anybody have classed Ronnie Mitchell as a female baddie or merely a victim of circumstance re all the babyswap malarkey earlier this year? If not, then Janine apart (panto baddie but still with a good side - if you're ok to her and don't judge her then she'll be ok with you type), we haven't had one since Suzy Branning - who's time in the show was brought to a very premature end as (ironically) she didn't rub along well with Samantha Womack/Janus!
Stella before that I guess and Mad May so we've not been short of them. We are overdue the next female baddie now though I guess.....equal rights when it suits perhaps?!

Do we actually have any confirmation though that Derek will return to EE with a wife?? Yes, its documented that he has sons, but he's also done time in prison, and its conceivable that he is now divorced or even widowed??

It was mentioned by Jim to Carol and Dan in 1999 that Derek was getting divorced. He was single in 1996 so his marriage that ended in 1999 must have just been a short one. I dont recall it ever being mentioned he has kids though.

So did I!!

Her need to have a baby sent her bonkers so it was easy to sympathise with her.

I don't care if the baddie is male or female, as long as it's a convincing one.

Both Archie en Yusef could only be played by men, a similar character as a woman would not have worked.

Archie could not have been Annie, because it is highly unlike for an Annie to rape her daughter as well as a random Square resident. The Danielle plot could have worked, maybe even better, but Annie could not have been inserted into the Mitchell clan as much, who was she going to marry and mentally abuse? Phil? Don't make me laugh! As if.

And Yusef, being the jealous, vengefull ex of Zainab would not work as a Judy, because Masood has no such past and an ex-sister in law or something along those lines, again, could not have gotten as far into the family as Yusef can.

Most baddie's victimize one or a few characters in particular, so for a female baddie to work, there must be someone for her to work with. Maybe Janine, but I'd rather not go there, I prefer human Janine.

So the best possible way to have a female baddie would be to have her paired up with Jack, who is of course vulnerable without Ronnie, when he finds out about Tanya, and with his kid apparantly being neglected. I can't think of anyone else who could be involved in such a storyline (maybe Anthony, but he wouldn't be as good, as not as many people would be somehow involved in it all). On the other hand, why would anyone have a problem with Jack, unless it's someone from his past, but that will also involve male criminals I suppose.

I'd definitely like to see an in-control [not mental ala Mad May] female villain in the future, yes. Why not a Gangster's wife indeed.

And no contrived theatrics like with Yusef always being around please too...

Personally I dont really class Cindy and Chrissie (along with Janine) as out-and-out baddies, more like classic-soap bitches who only do bad things because they have been repeatedly wronged by others.

Whereas Mad May and Stella (while having some reasons for their mad behaviour) were a lot more sinister and villainous, and its this type of woman i'd like to see again.

Yes, good idea! She could be all sarcastic hoping for a result, I'd love her. I liked Lydia, why was she axed so early? They could have done a bit more with her.
