Agree one hundred percent. Kelly isn't even overweight, she's just not underweight which unfortunately we all nowadays expect our celebrities to be.

really annoys me when people have a go about peoples weight - Kelly is not falt - she actually looks heathly and she is brilliant at what she does

KC's always been kinda big, and she's hardly obese, so I don't see a problem. I thought she looked just fine.

It's never been more acceptable to carry extra weight, celebrity or not.

Twenty or more years ago, a girl of Kelly's build would have been considered not just chunky or chubby or slightly overweight but fat.

I really like Kelly ... she's never been slim in the sense of a lot of the female "pop stars" these days but I wouldn't say she was fat

I agree that the dress she wore wasn't very flattering but for me it stil doesn;t make her any less of a singer

It was also nice to see different guests on the X Factor than the usual ones who they get every year

She looked like a normal healthy woman.

She only looks "chunky" compared to the type of woman's body the media try to promote as being ideal.

Haha! Kelly Clarkson is a better vocalist than anybody who has been a finalist on X Factor. As the host himself said, this years finalists are probably dreaming of a career like hers. All of the previous winners are probably dreaming of a career like hers too.

Kelly Clarkson to me sounds like a bronchitic miner after a heavy night.

She would be dreaming of the career she has had if she hadn't been lucky enough to be the first winner of a new show.

Mediocrity personified.

Let's not pretend Kelly's career hasn't had its downs as well as ups. There have been times when its obituary has been written.

Not to mention that even Americans and those involved in American Idol admit she's far from the best they've had and would have struggled in all but a couple of other years.

I do wish some in TV and radio in this country would stop blowing smoke up her backside.

I thought her outfit on the show was unflattering and old fashioned, but Kelly herself is gorgeous. She has a beautiful face and although she's not a size 10, she's hardly obese or anything.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. She's a talented performer (though I've not really been a fan since her first two albums from way back - the change in direction she took from My December onwards wasn't for me) and seems like a really lovely person. I assume her fanbase are far more interested in her music than her looks. She is established enough that it doesn't matter if she's not a stick.

Cowell has said on numerous occasions that she is probably the best singer American Idol ever had. She is a better singer than all the females that have won Idol for sure, especially in terms of pure technical ability.

I think her current song is dreadful. I like a couple of her songs from about five years ago but I've never seen the appeal of Kelly herself. I don't like her voice, she doesn't have much in the way of stage or visual appeal and comes across as a grumpy old mare (insulting your fans whilst on stage and sacking your guitarist in the middle of a concert are not traits that are endearing to many).


The last time I remember Cowell saying that was in 2005. He's certainly not said it any time in the last couple of years.

Well she's hardly Adele size now. I genuinely believe Kelly Clarkson is one of those few artists that when discussing being content with their weight, actually means it.

He said it in 2007 and he said it again in 2008/2009. His words were "when Kelly comes back onto the show she makes everyone else look like amateurs"..... he has always stated she is his favourite winner.

Fair enough, she made a bad call of judgement sacking her guitarist on stage, but I'm not aware of her insulting her fans at all.

If you don't like the sound of her voice then fair enough, but you can't deny the technical ability nor the versatility. She can sing any genre and make it believable. And grumpy? She seems considerably happy and down to earth whenever I have seen her interviewed.

I'm sure some of the stunning supermodels that frequent DS inbetween catwalk shows and their part time jobs as experts on everything will tell you that size 10 is obese, hefty and chunky and that anyone who weighs an ounce for than Victoria Beckham is a lard arse

People who are saying hurtful things about Kelly obviously need to go and watch the video to Mr Know It All, as I think it goes out to all of you hatin' on her.

I don't think it's "acceptable" as such at the moment but it's certainly more common - when I was at school I can only remember one child who was overweight. But I don't agree that Kelly Clarkson would ever have been classed as fat. She's just normal!
