This year's X Factor Australia was not only bottom two, she was bottom two a total of THREE times including WEEK 1!

Samantha Jade this year was three times in BT. Yet she won the Aussie version.

There is always a precedent to everything. Until last year you could have said "Once you're in a girlband you won't win - FACT!"

Alexandra came 4th out of 6 one week and was like 0.5% from falling into the bottom 2.

Until this year performing first was the death slot.

Australia's XF market is small. Their shows average 1.5-2 million viewers. There was a time last year when the one that polled second lowest and third lowest were separated by SEVEN votes.

It can be close anywhere, in series 2 (7 or so million viewers.. not to different to this year) of the UK show Brenda Edwards got the least votes and was automatically eliminated at the top 4, there were 23 votes in it.

Nonetheless, the smaller the market, the more likely someone in the B2 before can win.

It could happen. For all we know the difference between 1st and bottom in the voting on any given week could be very small. An act could be 6th of 7th but still be only sing-off survival and one solid performance away from the top.

Tell that to Samantha Jade, who won Australian X Factor after THREE stints in the Bottom.

Yep. Whoever wins out of James and Jahmene, it will be a "first". James for the botton two situation and Jahmene because there's never been a black or mixed race male winner.
