With Jodie leaving Eastenders, that leaves Yusef, Michael Moon and Grace the only other characters that make their first appearance in 2010.

Yusef + Michael are baddies, and in soap world will one day get their justice. I think Yusef will leave in the fire but Michael could stick around for another year or so.

And well Grace, can we even call her a character?

I think Michael will be around for a while yet.

Cain in Emmerdale is a baddie yet he's been around for a long time.

but isn't he a baddie that you love to hate? Like Janine. I don't know if Michael is like that...yet.

I think Michael will be a type of Janine villan which could stay for years to come, unlike the Yusef and Lucas types who you always know that there time is coming.

I think Michael will be gone within the next year.

Its strange that 90% of the characters Bryan has created have flopped and have been written back out. At least this is one good thing about him. He seems to admit his mistakes pretty fast.

I'm not counting Yusef as a new character however because he was only ever a one storyline character. They just extended the plot for longer. Kim, Fatboy, Rainie and Afia were all created by Santer so don't really count as Kirkwood additions.

Yes, very much of the revolving door types are Kirkwood's characters - in and out before you know it! I take it Vanessa's gone now too then? - as that was never actually explained (spelt out) when Eddie dissed her in his Jaguar before driving off into the sunset. Mind you the Kirkwood revolving door has not always been a bad thing with some of the flops he's brought in so far - Julie Perkins, Eddie Moon, Jodie, Vanessa, etc, etc! Fatboy was one of Santer's recruits in E20 originally wasn't he? To me Santer knew the right sort of characters to hire and fire accordingly, more were hired than fired - unlike the majority of Bryan's new recruits of course.

Cain hasn't been in Emmerdale the whole time though..he has come and gone. His family live there, so it makes sense that Cain keeps comming back.

Michael has already had his comeuppance for his part in the Eddie revenge plot. All he ever wanted was to feel loved by his family and to feel part of his own family for the first time in his life. Just as he achieved that, it was all ripped away from him through his own actions against Tyler and Eddie.

In terms of EE villainy, Michael is no worse than Janine or Phil for their actions, so the character is sustainable, unlike Lucas or Yusef who have caused irreparable damage to many around them and have no choice but face jail or death.

I'm happy for him to stay for as long as Steve John Shepherd is happy to play him. Until a few months ago, I would have quite cheerfully waved him goodbye. However, I love how he's made the character unpredictable and unhinged and he's one of the things that make EE watchable for me right now.

Michael and Fatboy are both great additions to the show and I hope they are around for a long time. Michael is not an out and out villain any more than Janine or Phil are. Even characters like Tanya and Lauren have gone in for some pretty nasty vengeance in the past and survived.

Wow, excellent point about Lauren and Tanya. I keep forgetting - one tried to kill her father by mowing him down in a car, the other tried to bury him alive...Michael seems almost angelic by comparison!

Agree with you about both Michael and Fatboy. It took me a long time to warm to both characters, but I finally got there.

I think the only issue will be how long Steve John Shepherd wants to hang around. He's been in continuous acting employment for the past 15 years and seems to like new projects and challenges. I'm not sure he will still be around out of his own choice in a year or two, but I shall certainly enjoy Michael while he lasts.

Fatboy wasnt even Kirkwood's creation he was Santers therefore the only characters who Kirkwood introduced who are still in the show now are the ones who've been introduced over this summer: Cora, Rose and the Moon brothers. That's it! He's not going to leave a very impressive legacy behind

If he admitted his mistakes he would have axed the moons. Its easy to axe dead wood with no family ties that have only been around a year or less..

However to be fair to BK (and i'm not usually!) he did 'bring back' Kat and Alfie. Not his characters, but he was responsible for their reintroduction.

Give it time. Tyler and Anthony have only been on screen a few months. no way will they last beyond a year.

Give BK a chance, Adrian! I'm no fan of his work on EE but if we're patient, I think the Moons will go or get better. You can't axe characters all at once, that would just be stupid. You only write them out when the time is right.

TBH, there's no difference between how easy it is to axe them. Eddie's gone now, so Tyler and Anthony could depart in many different ways that would work. The Moons aren't exactly big in the history of EE anyway.

Maybe not but they are big in kirkwood's masterplan. The moon bros/kalfie are more or less his muses.By hook or crook he is going to live or die by these characters

I think that Kat and Alfie were a good choice to replace Peggy as landlords of the Vic, they are after all an iconic EE couple, with a slight touch of the Den and Angie's about them.

However since they came back ive been dissappointed with the storylines they have been given, Too much baby drama stuff for one...

Call me silly but I saw the signing of kalfie (to replace peggy) as the first indication that kirkwood was bad news. Its a rather cheap trick to replace peggy with a couple of ex landlords..Sure it might've worked with sharon 10 years ago but kalfie in their current form are getting exposed due to the writing..

.. Eddie moon's stint in the pub proved anyone could takeover the place so the fact that kirkwood didnt have the courage to put someone new & instead decided to play on past glory, is a negative to me
