I heard in Neighbours there is an end of season climax which involved karl and susan having to reevaluate their relationship. Not sure what else but neighbours usually does something dramatic. (please no more fires though:yawn

When did Home and Away last have a Christmas storyline?

All Australian soaps are off air early-December to mid-January or early-February so traditionally didn't do Christmas storylines - or even feature Christmas at all.
'Prisoner' made reference to Christmas in one episode in late 1979 but all other years there was no Christmas. 'Sons and Daughters' and others simply ignored Christmas all together. I think 'Neighbours' has done a few Christmas bits but these have been minor and low key. Most Australian soaps traditionally did an end-of-year cliffhanger to ensure viewers returned the next year after the break. These would often be a big storyline: a murder, fire, or some sort of peril. 'Neighbours' and 'Home and Away' screen in various places at different rates so do not bother so much with an end-of-year cliffhanger and tend to go for mid-year disasters like the recent storm in H&A. |
