It won't even let me sign up for the free trial but looking at what is available no loss to me.

It is quite simple to sign up for the free month and also give it a chance as the service has just launched.

I'm quite happy with it on the first night, watched an episode of 24 and two episodes of The Office An American Workplace followed by the Jason Statham film Blitz, which was in HD and with the option of 5.1.

Plan to watch the Expendables tonight, that'll make the missus beg for Champions League football to return.

You can't see what's available if you aren't signed up... instead you just see a one-page random sampling.

Does anyone know if any new content has been added today? I wonder if there can be a thread or post put up somwhere with any new content added. The guy on the phone I spoke to last night at their customer services suggested new content would be added on a daily basis.

For anyone interested in who's got what:
http://paidcontent.org/article/419-n...uk-pricepoint/

Quote:
“Netflix says it has film and TV from All3Media, BBC Worldwide, CBS, Channel 4’s 4oD, Disney UK & Ireland, ITV, Lionsgate UK, MGM, Miramax, Momentum Pictures, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox and Viacom International Media Networks.

In the second pay-TV movie window, Lovefilm has exclusive deals with Sony Pictures and Warner Bros., as well as delas with Entertainment One, Studio Canal (formerly Optimum Releasing), Disney, Lionsgate and Momentum. In TV, Lovefilm just signed deals to add archive ITV and BBC Worldwide shows.

In the pay-TV movie window, Sky Movies currently has exclusive deals with Hollywood’s six largest studios (Sony, Disney, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Warner Bros. & Universal) for linear and SVOD via subscription.”

That link is broken, page not found error.

The likes of the FOX stuff, that should cover all the FOX shows. As we know Prision Break, 24 is already on there. I hope therefore that the likes of Fringe is added as soon as possible given the licenses deal (which is the hard bit) is done.

If you use one of those VPN thingies to access the US content with your UK account, you'll be happy to know that Teen Wolf (the tv series, not the michael j fox movie), Legend of the Seeker, and Farscape are all available for streaming.

(Although Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars is not)

Does that mean then that netflix won't get some hollywood studio's onboard as lovefilm already have exclusivity??

Sorry for the lame question just trying to understand how it all works.

It wouldn't let me watch it. I can watch Hulu fine.

Try a trial of unblock-us works much better than any vpn in my opinion and your speed should remain the same.

Time will tell I guess hopefully if it's an exclusive it will be time limited so extra content will arrive at some point.

It would be very annoying though if this was not the case as the quality of the streaming from lovefilm is absolutely dire and netflix is miles better and I am not interested in paying for 2 streaming companies.

Probably. Although the deals are usually for only parts of the catalog. Like Lovefilm might have an exclusive deal with Sony for first-run movies, but not Sony's entire catalog.

The same happens in the US version. HBO shows are never available for streaming, which totally sucks. (HBO is extremely anti-netflix.. they won't even sell Netflix DVDs anymore) Warner Brothers is also very anti-netflix, although they're more anti-consumer than anything. They just doubled the dvd rental delay. Meaning a DVD must be available for *sale* for 56 days before it can be available to rent. Ridiculous.

That makes sense it will be interesting to see how it all pans out and hopefully it won't mean having to have both netflix and lovefilm to get all the content you need.

Anyone checked their Samsung Smart TV's today? I'm at work so can't check, but curious as to whether the app has been added yet.

Does anyone know how to set up and get access to netflix content from the US ?. I found this "unblock-us" website but am not sure if its legit or if I should proceed. I have never set up any sort of VPN network before. I already have a netflix UK account.

Is there another thread on here related to the above?

Any help would be appreciated

unblock-us is as legitimate as it can be because you are accessing content across different countries and between myself and a friend of mine whom I introduced it to we have had zero issues with it and with the current exchange rate it adds around £3 to the total price per month bringing it up to £8.99 which is a steal considering the content available.

It's as simple as changing the DNS entry to the one provided depending on the console or box you wish to use and a power off and power back on is all that is needed for it to work.

I have a UK netflix account which is billed every month and by adding in the appropriate dns into my Apple TV gives me access to all the USA content with no problems whatsoever.

The only downside is they only allow you to have one device using the dns server at any one time to stop people from handing out there account details and dns entries I guess.
