That's far to much hastle and is to big to sit in the living room next to the telly.

As for streaming, I'm not sure how t would be possible to stream Netflix content, even if it worked I would have to first choose what to watch on the PC... For about £3/month it's worth it IMO.

Bought a Galaxy tab in the U.S back in the Autumn, that had NETFLIX as standard, but it would not let me download any, as I was in the wrong country, the one off prices seemed good though, I think they were 99c, had a quick look at the UK site, and the content does not wow me.

Not taking my phone into the equation because I know the screen on mine is smaller than most smart phones, but even on larger screen phones I struggle to see any detail.”

People who tether sometimes get caught, I think (maybe wrong) your account gets flagged after Xgb a month download; someone here said 5GB.

5GB streaming mobile content is a lot of hours watching tvcatchup/iplayer or netflix; doubt you'd get close in a month.

Not that impressed with it so far, most of the shows/movies i would want to watch aren't on it I don't think i'll be continuing after the free membership

its an alright selection to start with, but they really need to illustrate that they add a large number of movies and tv shows every week.

that selection alone isnt enough to keep me as a member and a token add of a few movies a month isnt enough either.

It's probably not super effective right now, but it will later when it gets the same content as the US. The US version has 14,000 titles available for streaming... a list would be pretty much useless.

The recommendation engine is truly amazing. Back in 2006, Netflix started a competition where they gave away a million dollars if you could improve their recommendation engine by more than 10%, or $50,000 to the algorithm that scores the highest if no one beats the 10% threshold each year. In 2009, 3 years later, a group won the grand prize with a 10.05% improvement. The group comprised of 2 researchers from AT&T Labs working with 2 Austrian researchers from Commendo Research & Consulting GmbH, a researcher from Yahoo, and 2 researchers from Pragmatic Theory.

i hate recommendation engines, even the one that Lovefilm uses, i don't want them to recommend me anything, what they do need certainly on the PS3 is a genre list, nothing on the PS3, there is one on the Wii and the Pc.

recommendation engines never gets it right the stuff that Netflix thinks I will want to watch and Lovefilm and yet I would never watch it.

Certainly not enough on it to make it worth the £6 a month for me anyway, £6 a month I would have to watch something a least twice a week to make it worthwhile.

I downgraded my Lovefilm account to streaming and took out a Netflix account with the savings . The selection is OK for me as I don't have Sky so there are quite a few US series on there I haven't seen, as well as films. Between the two subs I should have more than enough things to watch to make up for the lack of good US shows on Freeview.

Sorry if this has already been answered but how many devices can be used on one account? Can devices me de-activated/activated as you choose? Can more than one person use the same account at the same time or is it just one person at a time?

No need to activate devices to use them.

I think someone previously said 6 devices at a time.

Cheers, but what I meant though is, if this 6 devices thing is right, lets say when/if Virgin Media vring a Tivo app out for Netflix, would I be able to say de-activate the Wii Netflix app so I have space for the Tivo app or for instance would I be able to change said devices for my needs, like using my phone and tablet for when I go away on holiday, but when I come back de-activate them?

You don't need to activate a device with Netflix for it to work. I use my laptop, iPad and ps3 but I haven't activated any of them. As long as you don't use more than 6 at once you can use as many as you like as far as I know.

So basically meaning that 6 people can use one account at one time? Or am I misunderstanding this?

So where does this information come from? Isn't it a bit stupid? In theory, I could give my login details (yes that would be stupid) to loads of people.

If you google it you will get the same answer.

You could give it to loads of ppl but I'm unsure what happens if you go over 6 devices which is the limit per account.

I've come to the conclusion that some films on Netflix are encoded at 29.97fps and some at 25fps, I got a RGB cable for the Wii today and I'm now able to flick between 576 (PAL50Hz) and 480 (60Hz NTSC) in 576 you get motion judder in 480 playing the same film you don't, this is not good, I don't get this with Lovefilm playing from my Digital Stream DPS-1000

Presumably this would be because Netflix content as far as im aware comes from the US so the majority will be stuff they've already got in their US library, whereas Lovefilm is UK based that provides contend to just Europe so all content will be in a Pal format.

Anyhow, why would you want to keep switching between 50hz and 60hz? Just leave it at 60hz and problems solved, especially as far as games consoles are concerned as 60hz is always better.

Is there a list anywhere for any new added UK content.

Maybe we should create a sticky thread with a list of new content

As far as multiple logins are concerned, Netflix only allow streaming to one device at a time and this is stated in their T&C.

I first noticed this when I unintentonally tried to stream a 2nd program on my PC and a message popped up telling me to close the first program first. Not sure about streaming to say a PC and a console together though as I have not tried it.

far too much haslte to lug one lead into your pc and one into the back of your tv ? ? ? ?

hmm they make then 10 foot long and longer and that £3 your basically giving to "unblock us" for something you can do exactly the same but for free could pay half your netflix sub.

obviously more money than sense

My PC is much further than 10 foot away for starters as its in the computer room up the stairs.

Also I can browse through program's using my remote control and pause, rewind, fast forward and so forth. If streaming I would have to choose the program on my PC first and play it with no easy way to pause.

If it was as great as you said loads of ppl would do it but that clearly isn't the case.

10p per day not to have that hastle is worth it for me yes... Not to mention the power consumption that leaving the PC on would cause I would probably save nothing.

My sister just rang me up to say her and her friend were watching two different things from two phones at the same time from one account?

That was a brilliant link - made so by one of the links on the side of the video that showed you how to get the US content on a UK PS3

(I have just tried it, and it works )
