Only legal way of doing that is by paying...
Fairly certain AppleTV isn't capable of going via any shady routes... For that you'd need to hook a Mac/PC up to your telly but that's not for discussing on here... The interface on Netflix is really good, the search is really good, can see tv programmes and new releases. You can easily keeping changing dns to access both us and uk Netflix as uk has content not on the us one and us has loads of content not on the uk especially tv series such as walking dead, raising hope, glee, united states of Tara, spartacus, party down, all of law and orders, it's goes on and on. As mentioned unblock us offer dns reroute for £3, you get full normal Internet speed, no slows downs like proxy or VPN. Also VPN reactor have just introduced a free DNS address, if anyone would prefer to use this I can post it, however I have tested it as I pay for unblock us. Total cost for Netflix and unblock us only £9, could add love film for another £5 and you still far behind virgin media or sky subs, at least €16-21 for movies and £20 for entertainment. You can do the math. Using netflix us , uk and love film you can match this except for sky's hbo content which isn't on virgin media anyway Another way to get even more content is to jailbreak the apple tv, extremely easily and i would help anyone do this, via this you can get xbmc which means you can get us Hulu , means newest episodes to shows such as new girl , office, terra nova etc, newer than shown in then uk. You get other plugins like furk.net, ifcefilms, veetle but these aren't legal so that's a personal choice, you can also get iplayer, itv, 5 on demand and 4od. I highly recommend this. |

You can by changing DNS, and for anyone thinking about how to access Netflix , apple tv is a great option if not the best, goes great as an extra to. Apple Tv is only £99.

But 'in theory' if nothing else, is using unblock us not come under the illegal banner? They block content from going outside their agreed area, thus circumventing that is breaking T&C's |

In regards to this whole unblock-us and the legality of using it to access content from the USA this is my view point.
Yes you might be breaking the T&C's but YOU are not downloading and storing any content to copy or to lend out to your mates and as far as I know there is no way of ripping the stream to a dvd or hdd whilst playing thus mitigating piracy of USA content. I appreciate it's a grey area with streaming content from the USA whilst living in the UK however as far as I am concerned with all the DRM and the restrictions in place if there was indeed an issue unblock-us would of been shut down a long time ago. So enjoy the best of both and happy streaming. |

Lovefilm has signed a deal with ABC to stream their TV shows to UK customers including Lost, Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. It's non-exclusive though:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012...aming-deal-abc Btw, thanks to whoever mentioned Unblock-US. I tried it last night and it works, and is fairly easy too. I can no watch Netflix USA & Hulu with little to no effort. Im currently using the 1-week trial but i'm luckly to continue using it. Are there any other similar US based services one could try? |

I dont know if this as been mentioned, but I have noticed that all the content is not available for browsing by those accessing Netflix via consoles.
Example I found Crank 2 via PC but had too do a search alphabetically on Xbox to view. |

LOVEFiLM still has more content than Netflix, but the crap stream quality is whats making me lean towards Netflix. Amazon UK/LOVEFiLM really needs to drastically improve their stream quality if they wanna survive this, especially if Netflix increase their UK rights (which im sure they will).

This was the reason I stopped Lovefilm as it was so bad even on a fast connection. 2. On Netflix, I tried the DNS change yesterday and as previously said, a good selection. This morning (16/1/2011), my account was deactivated but still OK when I went back to UK content. An interesting comparison was that for some of the same films, US had HD and we did not. Regards |

Can no longer access US content
Quote:
Does that mean you can no longer access usa content with unblock-us??
daleski75 - I assume using the US database, they forgot to differentiate between UK and US subscribers. The other thing easy to block is the IP address unless a Proxy Server is used and that would have to be fast and available. It would be interesting to know whether the UK servers are a mirror of the US ones which include UK content. Whatever, the HD content is (was for US) brilliant on my connection. Regards |

The picture quality seems to have dropped while watching Netflix on my Apple TV, it was impressive for first couple of days but now it is quite poor.
I have tried a speed test and I am consistently getting a 30MB connection. I am still getting HD from my Xbox in the other room. Anyone else noticed the quality drop on Apple TV? |

I think the answer must be yes but the ability was almost too good good to last.

Regards As far as I am aware the server(s) are all based in the US however the UK side of it has content which is not available on the US side so even if you find something on the UK side there is no guarantee it will be on the US side as well. Maybe they are clamping down now? |

I'm guessing it's an unpublicised rights issue - if so, it would be nice if this was made clearer rather than a meaningless error message at the point of playing. I've contacted Netflix's UK Twitter support account about it but haven't heard anything back yet. |

Netflix states you can only stream to 1 device at a time, although I think I read on this thread that someone had it working on 2 iPhones at the same time, doubt you would notice poor quality on such a small screen though
![]() Have just tried on the iPad and iPhone and both streams worked ![]() 1. They have problems with account deactivation in their software which they are working on. Going back to default DNS, I received it once which is why I rang. They suggested I reset Netflix on my PS3 which is done whilst in/trying to log in by the sequence:- Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-Up-Up-Up-Up I have not done this yet but will try if I get more problems 2. Whilst talking to them (a very helpful lady), you can register 6 devices and stream any 2 of them at the same time. Regards |

The same thing was happening this evening. I have been thinking about trying unblock-us so I gave that a go and since I started using it the quality is much improved. |

After the problems I have seen today, this relying on the net to get entertainment is a bad thing. i have said this before mind you.
a mate of mine have been having some odd problems with his broadband, well today it just fell apart, no sync from 2pm till around 8pm. this have been happening for the last few days, but not so long. Mad as a fish is trying to get to the bottom of it, but I am pretty sure it is a Bt problem. anyway if this have been where all TV and music came over the net he would have been stuffed, need to sort out the unreliable and slow broadband in this country before we start thinking about streaming being the future., I am so glad I still my Lovefilm DVd/blueray subscription. |

I have just signed up to netflix and I am stunned by the quality.
Within 2 minutes of signing up I was watching Zulu in HD on my ps3 and it really is HD. Some of the stuff on there is fantastic. I am going to watch Twin Peaks next.
