I signed up last night, the quality is fine but I'm not that impressed with the content to be honest. That said its only a few quid a month so dare say I'll keep on with it and its early days so content may improve.

The uk content is a bit lacking at the minute but for the price you can't really complain and the quality is way better than lovefilm instant.

If you haven't already give unblock-us a go and then you'll have so much content to watch you'll need to take time off work to watch it all

Signed up for this last night

accessing through the PS3 & I am impressed.

The menu system is easy to navigate, the picture quality is very good and streaming starts up fairly quickly.

The tv selection is way better than the movies. Lots of box sets of which some I am definitely interested in. The movies are pretty old but there are some that I would want to watch.

If the price remains at £6 a month I can def see me subscribing for a little while. Its a steal at that price despite the lack of content. I remain hopeful though that this will improve over the next month or two.

I signed up to the free trial and Im quite impressed so far.

a few things:

1. how often would they be uploading new content in the future? once a week? once a fortnight? more often?

2. HD won't play properly on my acer aspire net-top PC. Ive tried installing the latest silverlight which helped make it better - but it still doesn't play smoothly. is there anything else I can try?

3. Some programmes display with massive black bars at top and bottom - and older programmes have bars to the left and right - is there any way of altering the aspect ratio?

Thanks

Has any new content been added since the launch last Monday? Can't say I've noticed if there has.

I think the TV stuff is generally pretty good, but the film selection is quite weak.

Streaming only is $8 a month in the US with all that extra content, so I'd hope the UK version doesn't increase at all!

Whether its newly added or just not noticed it before, I've seen new things and categories appear since I started rating things I've seen before. I rated a load on the main site which after answering a quick question for each I rated, some new categories, appeared on my Wii and iPhone.

I keep finding new things each time I log in; it's certainly worth rating items as you see them pop up.

I signed up last week and I've been watching firefly and the 4400. I've been impressed with the quality. I'm watching through the wii via a component connection and I'd say the quality is equal to that of an upscalled DVD. I'll definitley keep it for a while as there are a few TV shows I want to watch.

One I noticed is West Is West.

I like the British film section but it desperately needs expanding.

I notice there is ONE Carry On film on there, out of a total of 31.

Hopefully they will get the Ealing comedies on there and some Hammer horror films.

The bars are meant to be there. Do you really want everything stretched?

Also you have to be on Internet Explorer. I tried playing films in Opera at first and it doesn't work.

it's not something as simple as you need to hit a couple of keys to enable the 2nd screen to work?

i know i had to do this on my dell laptop sometimes.

Well, anyway, in answer to your original question, I can't find any way to change the ratio. At least not on the ps3 or Pc anyway.

yeah, ive installed silverlight.

it seems theres a problem with silverlight intercting with a mac, which gives the black screen

its been working fine for the last few days now nothing :/

well OK i can live with the letterbox effect.

Im quite liking Netflix now... but I am having problems with my living room computer because I am getting the "ripping" effect, which, if I can't sort out... I won't carry on the subscription.

Same here. Working fine.

There is a Silverlight plugin for Firefox, so it may be worth hunting for that and installing it if it isn't working in Firefox for some people.

But 'in theory' if nothing else, is using unblock us not come under the illegal banner?

They block content from going outside their agreed area, thus circumventing that is breaking T&C's
I'm not sure, it certainty isn't illegal, the worst for going against terms and conditions you will get is a blocked account.

The fact is they allow you do this from a UK based account, it not as if I have signed up for a us account and then used the dns service.

If i was to travel to canada, latam, or us i could use my UK account. I only enabled this feature shortly before launching in uk.

Im guessing they know people will do this but they won't care as long as they want high subsciber numbers.
