Borderline? Really?

Ray of Light, Like a Prayer or Take a Bow would have been more appropriate.

the albums list is weird as instead of listing albums recorded and released in a decade they list compilations like james brown and hank williams in the decades they were released, which were decades after they were recorded. surely they could have found 10 normal albums in a 10 year period without having to list compilations?

2 prince albums, and another album with prince on 4 tracks from the 80s confirms the first thing i was thinking when i say the list. a heavy selection of time-warner releases

the other thing annoying about these lists is the sites don't just list them as a list, you have to fart about clicking 121 times to see everything. literally 121 times

Some of the selections are very bizzare and im suprised they would even be seriously considered for such a list however it's Time magazine's opinion and music is subjective afterall.

Very bizarre choices even regarding the artists I know well. U2 doesn't even have a single song included despite 22 Grammy wins over the years. Yet Stevie Wonder who also won 22 Grammys is included with 'Superstitious'. not even the best song from his album 'Talking Book'. And the only Beatles song included from the '60s is the mediocre 'I Want To Hold Your Hand'. Like the Beatles never wrote anything better?? And nothing included by Carole King, Paul Simon, Cat Stevens etc

All rather bizarre. if amusing.

Nor me - I could only see one song at a time, can't be bothered with than (in a list that I'll probably like about 2 songs out of in total).

It wasn't a "sorted" list, so no number 1 as such.

There are some great tracks in there, but its a very ... uneven list. With some pretty bizarre choices.

Get your freak on - Always thought that was a stupid song.

Single ladies - so overated. Lyrically, her worst song i think

Smells like teen spirit - Absolute classic. Brilliant

Billie jean - Another classic. I tend to find Thriller overshadows it so i am glad it made the list

I adore Borderline. One of my all time favs but i would have expected Like a prayer or ray of light to make the list over Borderline

I like i have never loved a man by Aretha but come on, we all know Respect is one of the best song of her genre of all time.

Ahh over the rainbow by Judy garland. Just a timeless piece of work.

Strange fruit by Billie holiday -easily her most rawest song ever. Glad that made it

Although it is great to see so many Motown acts and Souls singers they did not pick there best songs. It should have been.
Marvin Gaye-Whats Going On-a true classic,
Stevie Wonder-Living for the City-brilliant
Ray Charles-Georgia-stunning
Aretha Franklin-Respect that goes without saying

And the list is 85% American artists as well. And no-one outside of the US or UK has ever written a great song?

I am shocked the likes of Dusty, Kate, Annie, Elton and George didn't make the list.

Thanks for the list

Now, Beyonce and Lady GaGa being in the top 10 of the 2000's with these particular songs is just...IDK.It's not even laughable, it's tragic...

Typical rubbish list, as I expected. I rate less than 15 as any good. It's as if someone has purposely chosen inferior tracks of most of the artistes.
