Yet when you consider the "fun factor" of the likes of Saints Row The Third and Just Cause 2, GTAIV pales in comparison.

You can have all the fancy physics in the world and create the most realistic world in video games, but if it's not fun to spend time there then people won't look at it as fondly.

Still, GTAIV sold more than the aforementioned games put together.

i agree. I spent many happy hours in San Andreas. gambling, mountain biking, flying etc all great fun. i found gta4 visually and technically brilliant, but it lacked the most important feature........fun!

San Andreas got to be the most fun I've had on a video game so much to do and explore. Hoping this new one is as good if not better.

I play games if they are fun. Graphics are nice but i don't get enjoyment from graphics. That's why people still play pac-man, graphics are very basic and it's FUN. San Andreas was a fun game with average graphics (imo). I hated GTA IV and sold it. Decided to give it another chance and sold it again. I still have San Andreas...

Graphics are just a bonus for me.

I would not care if GTA V had same graphics as GTA IV.

I just want a huge game like San Andreas.

Imagine if the map size is - LS city area = same size as Liberty City and LS countryside = same size as RDR map and with twice as much stuff to do as there was in SA

I'm not an online player so characterisation/music/ambience/storyline make or break a game like this for me, IV's entire feel was drab and depressing (let's please have houses that tramps wouldn't turn their nose up at this time), the location too oppressive and the characters i couldn't have cared less about. At least CJ and his world were engaging.

For me, I enjoyed Vice City until San Andreas came along and I find it as one of the best. I'm hoping for that kind of fun too when GTA V comes out.

I still have fun blumping pedestrians in my FIB Buffalo, or booshing cars blocked up in the road with my RPG!

On GTA IV, try kidnapping the street preacher in South Bohan and take it for a ride:

Save your game at the Bohan safe house. Leave the house after Niko wakes up, cross the street to where the
preacher usually stands, ranting about robots in the drinking water and spies in the toilets. Assault him until
he's pissed off and wants to fight, then let him chase Niko until you find a cop, usually a fat one! Then let
the preacher punch Niko near the cop, and he'll get arrested.

At this point, quickly spawn an FIB Buffalo. Once this car appears, the arrested preacher walks over to it and
gets in the back. Quickly get in the drivers seat before the preacher escapes, and take him for a hell ride!

Use the cheat code 227-555-0100 on Niko's phone to enable the cheat to spawn the FIB Buffalo car.

I agree. I've still not completed GTAIV as it is far too samey. All streets look alike, all missions are similar, the characters are annoying etc. etc. VC and SA had far more differing terrain, missions and characters and made for a better game. They tried to make GTAIV more "real" but in my opinion it detracted from the gameplay. I'm not saying make GTAV like a Saints Row game, but it needs to have that fun factor which GTAIV lacked.

It's not going to be the case with GTA V but I think it's high time we were able to customise the appearance of the player character. If Saints Row can do it then why not GTA? Not including the ethnicity though 'cause that'd be weird if you had a white character voiced by a black actor etc!

Because GTA takes itself so seriously now, and a story where the central character is completely changeable in every way is a bad story.

I disagree.

Part of the joy of the GTA games is the story. Tommy would not be Tommy if he dressed like a 90's rapper. CJ wouldn't be CJ if he was a white, middle aged banker.

The one thing I did like from the GTAIV era is the DLC. You see the same time frame through 3 different eyes. I think this would be an awesome way to play the main game. 3 characters, playable in any order, doing the same time frame and interacting throughout.

“Hey guys hope everything is good over there in Rockstar. Just a question referring to GTA 4, the game was brilliant and I really enjoyed and still do, but what disappointed me was the lack of planes and jets... Can you tell me why you didn't include them, I'm sure you have a very valid reason?” – via Mouthoff

The city was simply too small for effective and enjoyable flying. It was the first time we made a high definition open world, and it was a massive amount of work to make something on that scale – we simply could not make an environment big enough for planes to work properly. Fear not, they are returning in what is our biggest open world game to date.

SOUNDS GREAT
