It's good news though I love GTA games and I really love GTA IV but I despise the way Rockstar drip feed us information on their next GTA game. I wonder if this will come to Wii U? May even be a next gen title for all we know. It is exciting to think where they are going to take the series next.
I think consider Wii U power It bound to come out on It. Well I hope. I think the controller could add a lot to the game. Hopefully the announce platforms in the trailer.

Yeah usually Rockstar are pretty inventive with things like that, just look at Chinatown Wars on DS, jam packed with cool little features. Nintendo would be silly to let this game pass them by but hey I'll put nothing past them.

I'm just really surprised that people are surprised by this.....in other news the earth revolves around the sun!!!

I didn't really enjoy GTA IV and never bothered completing it, something I very rarely do. Maybe it's just that I'm getting older but I get no pleasure from playing horrible immoral characters these days.

The only thing immoral in GTA has been the individual choices of the player in the real world, the games' main characters have never killed hookers as a part of the game's scripted story and have generally been good guys trying to make a better life for themselves.

OMFG!!! I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've always predicted since gta4 came out that gta5 would come out in 2012 but yay! This is defo pre-order!

From the poster, the five bit looks like San Andreas kind of writing, plus the colour green was CJ's gang colour.

Oh woo! I hope its similar to SA, that was the best! Just with graphics and multiplayer from gta4, it will be the best game ever, let alone best gta game.

About time too, can't believe it's took them over 4 years to announce a sequel for GTAIV (Excluding DLC)

Hopefully this game will have the right balance between serious and fun. GTA IV (although an excellent game, despite what some people say) was a bit too on the serious side, which was fixed somewhat in TBOGT.

More countryside would be nice, as would changing seasons as you progress through the game.

I'm surprised by it being announced now lol

I hope it's San Andreas and were going back to Grove Street Families

I was thinking when reading the thread I would want maybe Vegas, it seems to fit with GTA style and would be a bit different.

Also it would work with the title. GTA Vegas

Will GTA V be the final title, or will it be remamed GTA Los Angeles (or whatever location it's set in)?

Would anyone else like a 70's themed GTA?

Thought GTA 4 was a masterpiece in game development, but the serious tone didn't quite work. A bit depressing and boring after the ultra cool Vice City and pure fun San Andreas. The Ballad of Gay Tony was better than the actual main game!

Just hope they make it more 'lighthearted' than GTA 4. I don't mind whether it's V.C or a re-designed Los Santos. Florida could mean theme parks, everglades and maybe even a mock Kennedy Space Centre (how cool would a trip into space be!). LA could be a much greater parody of modern Hollywood than S.A.

Still a lot of life left in the franchise yet...

The dollar-like "V" hints that it's America

It depends I don't think so. With gta you have

GTA 3
vice city
SA

GTA 4
The Lost and Damned
The Ballad of Gay Tony

To be honest, I don't really care where the game will be based. What I would like is sprawling landscape as seen in San Andreas....y'know, some variety. GTAIV was just too claustophobic and whilst each district had little differences, the whole city vibe became too monotonous.

Bring back the countryside and the ability to fly planes again.

Oh, and like others have said, bring back the fun element too!

I have thought about it but I just can't see how it would work that well. I'm thinking "The Getaway" here..

I think it'd work if it incorporated surrounding counties like Essex and Kent, or perhaps another major city like Manchester or Birmingham with countryside inbetween. Obviously it'd have to have the unique GTA style.

It won't work without cops carrying guns.

Hear-hear!

A lot of people say they need to take a leaf out of Saints' Row's book, but I'd say dildos-as-melee-weapons is a step too far, they would do better to look at Just Cause 2 as an example of how a huge and varied map can lead to almost endless possibilities!

A side mission to London would be a welcome surprise.

Which they could easily put in the game, it doesn't have to be an exact carbon copy of London.

Agreed 100%. I loved the open space of San Andreas. I think I spent days just doing the mountain bike challenges at Mount Chilliad. You just got completely lost in it. Betting too, at the bookies and the casinos. Sometimes, often at 2 in the morning, I had to remind myself to stop playing games within a game, and go to bed!
