Can't say I've experienced that really, when mine has lost signal(which it only does in one place) it has switched to T-Mobile almost instantly and vice versa when it reverts back to Orange.
I've not had this problem. My 4S takes only a very short time to get a signal, more or less the same as my wife's iPhone 4.
Could it possibly be a network issue?
A few people I know who've got themselves an Iphone 4S have described this.
I think most of them have now switched over to using Android phones because they obviously feel that Apple technology is unreliable, and they couldn't be happier now.

i did the opposite i switched from android because of unreliability its all well if you have a nexus device but if you have anything else your at the mercy of not only the company who makes the phone but also the network to release updates to fix serious problems which can take ages

So, they get one of the latest phones to hit the market and after only a couple of weeks dump them? Sure they did
Not even a couple of weeks! I ordered my phone 13 days ago (one day before it was available) and I am yet to receive. The most anyone will have had it is from 12 days ago! No one rushes out to buy a phone like this and ditches it in that amount of time. Biased much?
