Simon Raids The Cher Lloyd Songbook For USXF
SharBear
26-10-2011
I've counted 3 songs in the past 2 weeks used on USXF that Cher sang on her season...and they're not common songs. I find it funny

Rather than he normally does - stealing firm American Idol? He doesn't have an original thought in his head.

What did he use?

They've used No Diggity, The Clapping Song, and (I forgot the name of the other one- Cher sang it on the 1st live show)

They are Cher's songs?

I think quite a few of the music team from X Factor UK last year are involved with X Factor USA (the 3 guys with Simon at judges houses worked on XF UK last year). Same showrunner as the last series of X Factor UK and same Creative Director as well and obviously Simon is there too. So we'll see plenty of similarities in terms of song choices, arrangements and staging.

Simon always does crap like that. The man is out of touch with music and has always used songs past contestants had a moment with. I think all of Leona's song choices came from songs Simon heard Kelly Clarkson and Katharine McPhee sing on Idol

No but they're all songs that had never been done before Cher

That's quite interesting - he must rate those songs, which shows when he gave them to cher, he was trying to pimp her.

That maybe true, but at the same time they are songs that require a performance, somebody who can move about on stage and not just clutch the microphone, standing like a frigid log, like most X Factor contestants.

just hope he doesn't also raid the wardrobe they used for poor Cher

all that 1980's 'salt 'n pepper' stuff they styled her in

Mhm. Although I think Leona's "Summertime" is the best version on these shows (Fantasia a close second, and Ruth and Naima both good), it's not surprising that her two other top performances were somewhat inspired choices: "Chiquitita" and "Could It Be Magic?".

Also, don't forget "Billie Jean": Mere months after David Cook won (and did that song for Top 10 week), Simon used the exact same arrangement for Austin Drage. Personally, I actually liked Austin's performance of it (possibly because that tight shirt was arm porn <3) but I thought he didn't a decent job. Does *not* change the fact though that he loves ripping-off moments and making everyone cover the same thing if he could.

Tiah Toliver sang 'No Diggity' which Cher sang with 'Shout'

Simone Battle sang 'Just be Good to Me' by Deborah Cox

Both have been eliminated

And InTENsity (the group who mirror Glee in every way shap ethnicity and form) sang The Clapping Song in a montage of songs
